Four of us greatly enjoyed a very generous plate of roast lamb each for our Sunday lunch at this lovely traditional old country pub in the heart of the East Sussex countryside. Welcoming and very helpful staff. Great service. Roaring log fire, Long Man ales. Lovely walks locally too.

Food was nice, definitely the highlight. Service whilst friendly wasn't really attentive. Waited a while for mains and desert order to be taken, wasn't asked if we would like more drinks at any point, had to ask at the bar for coffee. Usually quite understanding if the establishment is really busy or there are large table(s) present, but staff were mainly chatting to each other behind the bar while we waited for service. Would return for the food.

Great little pub. Good selection of food and specials on the board, good range of beers and wines too. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Especially after a long day at work, this was doubly appreciated!

We love this pub. Cosy and fairly intimate in the winter with a good well priced menu. In the Summer the pub moves outside. Very busyLots for children and a band on a Saturday BUT the same good food and atmosphere.

I looked at two pubs at which to hold the funeral reception for my father. One didn't seem very interested and merely quoted £20 per head for a "cold buffet". The other, The Yew Tree, quoted a similar figure for ten items from a selection on a buffet menu. The menu had a variety of options, hot and cold, with many sounding very tempting indeed. The chef was willing to accommodate our requirements (eg, making some of the sausage rolls with a vegan filling and others with meat). The slow-roast pork belly was sublime, many items were delicious, and there were plenty of comments of how good the buffet was. Combine that with a truly charming pub with fine ale, and the day was a success. Thanks to Gemma for her great service.

We held our wedding celebrations at the Yew Tree Inn at Chalvington. It was an amazing day thanks to Issy and her team. Issy bent over backwards to make all our dreams and ideas come to life. The food was delicious we had a hog roast. All of the costings were very reasonable and everyone including our guest with allergies were all covered. The setting is idyllic and we were lucky enough to be able to use the outside space to the fullest. Thank you again to all the staff for your hard work.

Yew Tree, Chalvington. Dogs permitted. Huge garden and marquee in summer. The food is consistently high quality and service is friendly. I recommend booking at peak times. Very popular with locals. Highly recommend Sunday lunch. Some slimming friendly options, generally very traditional fare.

Kids enjoyed the play equipment while we sat in the beer garden with drinks and chips. After a few hours the stone fired homemade pizza hut opened so we decided to stay for dinner ??? friendly and helpful staff, all in all a lovely time.

First visit and we were all pleased with our meal. So much better than the other Yew Tree. We visited after 8 pm on a Sunday and the food was all good and tasty. We will return

Overall, it is a perfect place for romance or a family. Food quality high with quick, easy service. Live band and great food choices. Kids adventure mini play area, which is great news whilst you can eat and chat and keep an eye on the kids too! Live band belted out the classics all afternoon.
