My friend and I walk our dogs over the downs every week. We head for Sheppard's Cafe. We have a pot of tea and choose a decent brunch! Every dish is delicious. The dogs get biscuits and a sausage each too - it keeps them quiet :-). Always great value for money, friendly service, dogs welcome, lovely food and a great cuppa!. Highly recommend.

They say that good things are hard to find, which applies for this quaint restaurant/cafe.Great atmosphere with tasty food, freshly prepared, I could only praise the taste, texture and presentation.We felt very welcomed and the staff were very friendly. Looking forward to trying one of their tapas nights!Most important for us - it is family and dog ? friendly!

Fantastic place. Really can't fault it. The people are lovely, the food is delicious, and the portions really are incredibly generous. All for an excellent price. What is more, they allow dogs, so thank you for that, too! It's a shame we live two hours drive away, but it's most definitely worth visiting. We were there for lunch.

Been coming to Sheppards for a couple of years. Started on the hunt for the best brunch in Sussex. We found Sheppard's after week 3 and haven't continued to look as its hands down the best brunch EVER. All served with friendly team in a beautiful Sussex village which allows for decent hike there, fabulous brunch, walk home. We have also been to a few evening events - the Tapas is off the scale fantatstic and pizza nights (I am not a pizza lover) but these are homemade sensations - all washed down with beer, wine and/or cocktails! Would highly recommend.

My husband and I visited Sheppard’s for a Friday night dinner for our anniversary. Initially I wasn’t able to book via the website so I sent an email and had a prompt and lovely response by Mandy, the owner, who booked us in with no issues. We chose the A La Carte menu and had to order earlier that day to ensure they could order in the ingredients (everything is locally and freshly sourced), and we weren’t disappointed! The cafe is unassuming but they let their food do the talking. We had the tiger prawns and pâté to start, and then we both had the hanging chicken skewer for mains. Everything was delicious and Mandy and her daughter were very friendly. It’s clearly the hub of the village, and so it ought to be! We were sad that we were leaving the next day so we couldn’t go back and sample the breakfast but if we visit the area again we’ll definitely go back, and will be recommending it to any friends heading down that way! Thanks again Mandy!!!

Fantastic cafe serving super food and drinks. Friendly staff and great choice for breakfast. Waffles and a full English breakfast (with locally sourced produce).

Absolutely loved our visit here! The food is delicious, the ambience lovely and the service great! They even had vietnam coffee which was so tasty and just like the real thing :) Loved the playlist too! We will define tely be returning :) :)

I wish this was my local! I had the vegan and my partner the big breakfast, both were fantastic, everything tasted like real quality! Also, the Vietnamese drip coffee has me hooked. Price wise it’s also excellent, I will be back if I’m in the area again for absolute certain.

A quick update. Not only is this place great, the food and drinks are too. Fab art on the walls. Rumours abound that there will soon be more outside seating. Great for summer. Sheppards is wonderful. As are the people who run it.
