great traditional food! Continues to be great service and food. Friendly atmosphere and varied menu. Open all year round and kitchen open 7 days a week. Daily specials board often home made quiche (a favourite). Great garden in the summer months and large conservatory for all other times.

The burgers are really good.We were a big group and tried different dishes. The houmous was not the greatest. Baked potatoes were fine.Burguer were really yummy and well done! We all liked them.

A proper pub with good food. My only slight issue is getting past the locals at the bar to order a drink ?

If I could give this lovely place 10 stars I would. My friend had her 70th birthday lunch here today. There was fourteen of us seated in the bright and airy conservatory. As soon as I came in I was welcomed by a very smiley member of staff. Things only got better. The service was very quick, friendly and efficient. All our meals were served at the same time, a feat in itself. The meals were all piping hot and everyone enjoyed the food immensely, clean plates all round and anything anyone couldn't manage was put in a takeaway container, so nothing was wasted. The portions were very generous and very reasonably priced. Top class.I managed to have a quick chat with the Manageress on my way out to say how much we had all enjoyed the food and service. I'm glad I also got to tell the chef too. I would highly recommend The Ship Inn, unlike other pub/restaurants they accommodated a large party of people. My friend said she had called a few places who wouldn't take a party of more than ten. So, if you are looking to book a larger party, don't waste time.. Go here, I'm confident you won't be disappointed. One and only one, drawback is there is no parking, it's permit holders only between 8am and 6pm, every day of the week. I know, because I received a parking ticket on a Sunday in a permit holders only space. My fault, but a bit of a pain as my reasonably priced meal cost me double ?.

Very rude barman telling us off as we sat with our boys in wrong place. Did not feel welcome at all. As a local who regularly goes there will never go back. Not family friendly at all.Kid-friendliness: Not family friendly at all. We were chased away even before we sat. It was after enquiring not allowed to have kids close to the bar. Barman did not bother to explain this to us.
