Me and the kids had been for a walk through the forest and stopped on the way home ?The staff are very welcoming and helpful.There's nothing like a good country pub and this ticks all the boxes including good with kids ?

Lovely pub. Lovely staff, good service 4 for lunch. 2 roast beef, I roast lamb, 1 Caesar salad. Caesar salad good. Roast meats lovely, veg. large assortment but bland. Carrots roast potatoes and parsnips all undercooked . Won't stop us returning.

We loved the chicken burger a lot! Big fan of the cheese they used with it too ???? and speaking of cheese, we ordered more of that good stuff with a fried brie and cranberry jam side. ??? So damn good.

All the staff were friendly.Huge out side space lots of tables and shade. Inside clean and spacious.(two toilets in the ladies is not enough though on a busy weekend). Plenty of parking spaces.Service was very slow, they were very busy but its annoying when people seated after you get their order taken.Had a crispy chicken burger with fries for £14 (husband loved his meal).In side the bun was one little lettuce leaf, one slice of tomato and loads of onion. The burger was not crispy. It was rubbery and some liquid came out of it. Fries where lush tho so didn't go hungry. Ordered pineapple and lemonade, lemonade was £4 pineapple juice £2.50....£6.50 for a softdrink...the coke was £3.10. Over priced for what you get.

Lovely sunny sunday afternoon lunch. Staff were attentive and friendly, and service was exactly right. Food and drinks all came out on time and was delicious! We have also eaten at sister pub and that was also very good! Cheers!

Arrived as booked at 430.. although other tables available sat behind screen where washing up was done, very noisy..Order taken quickly and food, which was very good, and drink served promptly.. but there was no follow up from any of the staff.. we had to get attention to order more drinks and at one point, despite there being at least 5 staff lingering around the entrance area we had to go and ask for the desert menu... this was around 20 minutes after our plates had been cleared... and again we had to get attention to order..Food good but staff distracted and not really paying attention to customers, or at least not to us..

We played as our duo, BB Jukebox at The Red Lion for the first time and it was such a lovely venue. The staff were really helpful and the customers were friendly. Definitely a recommended place for bands to play!

The beer battered fish and chips is listed as GF (gluten free) on the menu, and I mentioned to the waitress how pleased I was they had GF batter, as it's disappointing to have plain grilled fish. But it arrived plain, I double checked with the staff and the kitchen who told me the batter was not gluten free. I wrote to the pub later to explain that you cannot list something as GF which is not, you could put GFO (gluten free option), but got no reply from them. The website is very enticing, an interesting menu and lovely warm atmosphere. The pub is not like the website and the menu is much more limited and less imaginative. Perhaps good if you know what you're getting but very disappointing for a birthday lunch for a coeliac.

This was my first visit and it did not disappoint. I had fish and chips and my partner had a roast dinner and we both loved it.

Great food let down by poor service. We had Sunday roasts, beef and three meats. And the pie. All very tasty and well presented. Kids had burgers and ate the lot. Table service wasn't, example main course plates still on the table when dessert arrived.
