Ate at the garden room twice, both nights we stayed at Down Hall as part of a package. Overall the food was great - really interesting flavours, beautiful presentation and good variety. Some dishes much better than others, we really liked the lamb and the roasted leek dish. Deserts were the best part - stunning and delicious! Service was good.If we weren’t on the package plan the price would be a little hard to justify, but it was an all round great experience! Would return.Vegetarian options: Two or three veggie options for each course. Only one vegan.

We enjoyed a wonderful family afternoon tea as a surprise birthday celebration. Our waitress, Jane, took great care of us and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. The food was super with a good selection of sandwiches and cakes for vegetarians and non. Highly recommended.

Stayed as guests at a wedding reception held at Down Hall. We thought the whole experience was lovely and professionally ran. Our room was very comfortable and clean but did think the decor could be a little updated.

A wonderful experience with staff who were absolutely amazing. Everyone did everything with a smile on their face. The spa was excellent! The breakfast was great! The rooms are spacious. Beds were comfy and the grounds were beautiful.

Outdoor cinema that went on until 11pm outside our room. Couldn't be moved so after an amazing, relaxing day at the spa and followed by an fantastic dinner, we were shattered and just wanted to sleep. Couldn't and had Maverick blaring out until after 11pm. The window in our room couldn't shut fully. When we complained in the morning, we were told no-one else had complained and it was our responsibility to check the hotel's website for their events. Rather then letting us know when we checked in and offering a room move. Or we wrongfully assumed that the hotel wouldn't hold an outdoor event that blares noise and keep guests awake. Shame as it fantastic food and staff otherwise

We came for the Gin afternoon tea and it was the best one we have had. Lovely homemade food and great cocktail and tea recommendations from a very attentive server. Jane made the whole experience extra special and she was very knowledgeable about the building and its history. We will definitely be returning.

Beautiful hotel, great staff, nice food and drink. The location was stunning and would be a great wedding venue. Only slight downside was hot rooms and no air conditioning. We didn’t try the spa but it did look nice, maybe next time

A great afternoon in the sunshine, at Down Hall enjoying their tasty and well packed picnic in their beautifully manicured grounds.. A good selection of sandwiches, salad and coleslaw packed in a well presented traditional wicker basket... a perfect afternoon out!
Had an amazing anniversary lunch at the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff so accommodating and helpful. Great place to bring the children all very welcome. Plenty of outdoor areas to have fun. Food was great and good choices for the little ones. Definitely worth a return visit

We stayed at Down Hall with my family and had dinner twice at The Grill. The food was lovely (so much so that we ended up ordering the same starters the second evening, as they were delicious) and the service was impeccable. The gentleman who suggested the wines was very attentive and remembered our choices the next evening. All in all, a very pleasant experience.
