I really want to love this pub because it's beautiful and very local, but unfortunately it never fails to disappoint. They never seem to have the thing i want from the menu, and I've been given something i didn't order twice now. Some staff members are downright rude - although others are lovely so it's not all terrible, but it could be sooooo much better.

We had Sunday lunch here today a very nice Public House very old and quaint. The staff were very nice and friendly and very helpful too. We ordered a Sunday Roast, it wasn’t great unfortunately the veg was far too Al-Dente we love crisp veg and certainly wouldn’t boil too a pulp these Veg today seemed like they had been dropped in hot waters and taken out they were near to the state of raw. Also I had the Roast Beef, it was very nice and quite tender but the portion size was terrible I had one small slice of beef and a half slice with a large lump of fat For the price of the meal I felt it was quite stingy to say the least but my hubby had the Roast Turkey which was quite a good portion and he said it was delicious.

I arrived at the King's Head for a drink one Sunday early evening (around 5.30). Immediately I approached the bar, I was told they were closing at 6pm. Not the friendliest of welcomes, but I ordered anyway. Indeed, at about 5.50 we were asked to finish our drinks cos they were about to close. We duly drank up and were gone by 6.05. I've just received a parking fine for £50!!!! I saw NO signs to indicate we had to park. In fairness, it wasn't something I was looking for. The location of the pub is such that I wouldn't imagine anyone parking there unless they were a customer. It's not the kind or car park that would attract commuters or shoppers for other businesses so the parking charge is clearly aimed at pub customers. I am appalled. Its the first time I have ever gone to a local pub and been expected to pay to park. It's also the last time I will visit the King's Head!

We are regulars here because we love how friendly the staff are, great indoor and outdoor space, spacious for prams and dogs, and the food is tasty. Recently we bought a brunch of friends here for sunday roast last Sunday. Carol was very accommodating and provided top class service to our party of 9, she was attentive, smiley, worked very hard, and provided above and beyond service to us all. On previous visits here she had also been wonderful too so we remembered and enjoy it when we come in and see her. The new eton mess dessert was pretty and delicious!

We’ve lived in the village for years, and it’s well known that this place is sub par. We generally avoid as it attracts dodgy clientele and the food is usually poor to say the least - but we try again once a year (usually as new management takes over) to see if anything has changed. Sadly, it’s probably at the worst its ever been. The pub makes up its own rules about serving food (only bookings - not walk ins like it’s still under Covid restrictions) and half the menu is missing. We ordered a burger and onion rings - the bun was yellow which can only mean it’s both old and defrosted and the onion rings were limp with oil but still tasted raw and had hardly any coating. It was laughable bad. The bar staff are nice, but that’s as good s it gets. It’s such a shame as it’s such a beautiful building and with the right investment would make an absolute killing in this village! We’re screaming out for it!! I envy the lovely pubs of Ongar, Theydon and Epping.

I hadn't been to the Kings Head for quite a while. It didn't disappoint as the food and the service were both excellent. Thank you Paige.

Highly recommended for lunch. had lunch here today with my wife and I must say the food we had was excellent. I had the signature burger snd it was the best burger I’ve had in years. I think the chefs name is Andy and I pass my compliments to him. As I say, I highly recommend this pub

We visited mid week, so not too busy. Our waitress was Carol and she was amazing. Really attentive but not over the top. I will definitely be back with doggie next time I think!
