Pubs in Great Waltham

“Visited on a Friday evening as a birthday treat for my mother. She has been here previously, this was my first time. A colleague had also told me of their pizza evenings and gave praise.Parking was jam packed by 1930 so had to leave the car on the main road.A small cosy pub with a wood burner, standard pub side stool seating and tables. We sat at a bench table beside each other near the front door. We didn't see the main dining area but it was a busy evening and sounded like plenty of seating.•Bread & oil•Rose & Crown Burger•Battered Cod & Chips•Honeycomb Charlotte•Salted Caramel & Almond BrownieThoroughly enjoyable meal, clear plates each course. Boneless cod & generously stacked burgers was consumed with aplomb by us both.Would like to visit again to try other menu options. Thursday steak evening sound decent.”

“Quick drop off (and detour) while trudging the Essex Way. Great welcome from both the landlord and the locals. Great service and beer, nice atmosphere. And a grateful goodbye. Thanks for letting me stop by. ps Great Waltham seems a nice place to visit for a look-round and wander.”

“Only just re-opened, no food available yet at time of writing. But if is anything like.the atmosphere and service I'm sure it will be wonderful! Spacious garden and cozy interior. Lovely staff to boot.Maybe should have kept the sware jar above the fireplace though for the obvious jokes.”
