A Heartfelt Tribute at The Rose and Crown, WrittleOur annual visit to The Rose and Crown in Writtle is a cherished tradition, a tribute to a dear friend we lost too soon. This pub never fails to impress, serving up a Sunday lunch that is both comfortingly familiar and excitingly delicious. The highlight? Their Yorkshire puddings - grand in size and light as air. However, it's the rich, glossy gravy that truly steals the show. It's a savory symphony that elevates every bite, making the meal unforgettable. The atmosphere is always bustling yet warm, the beer selection superb, and the staff are genuinely friendly and attentive. The Rose and Crown isn't just a pub, it's an experience - one we heartily recommend. Whether it's a celebration or a remembrance, your time here will be well spent.

Nicely located pub on the green in Writtle on the outskirts of Chelmsford. Decent selection of beers and drinks. I'll say the menu is pretty formulaic, but then I say that of so many pubs.Service was efficient so worth the stop on the bike ride I was on.I'd go back but this pub isn't at the top of my list. It's decent/average or however we rate these things.

Lovely food served by lovely welcoming staffDietary restrictions: Good gluten free selection
Met up with family at half way point between us all and so pleased that they suggested Writtle. We were recommended to book at this pub and the food was excellent and really reasonably priced, the staff were attentive but not intrusive and very welcoming atmosphere. My husband and I said we would definitely visit again.
