First visit to Sir Henrys. Nice tasty food. Staff very attentive. Lovely old traditional building with a lot of history. Read their website. Very busy which says it all. Large outdoor eating drinking area which would be lovely in the summer months. Very enjoyable

Having cuttlery when serving the dessert and keeping tables clean is all that was missed. Cheers!?

Despite booking a table we had to wait 35 minutes to be seated, and service generally was poor. However the food was good, and decent value.

My daughter and son in law had been passing last year and had dropped in for a drink and said what a lovely building it was. So 14 of us went back for my son in laws birthday. We had a great time, the staff were fantastic the food lovely. We got there at 6.45 and were the last to leave. Can’t wait to go back and look forward to spending some summer evenings there. Thank you to all the staff for making our eveningKid-friendliness: The children are between 5&7 the staff made a great fuss of them and even showed them around. Staff are absolutely lovely.

Lovely food, but had to wait 30mins for a table even though we had booked. Also waited 30mins for dessert before being told they didn't have two of them.

A quiet birthday lunch with 4 girlfriends and the celebrant’s choice was Sir Henry’s. Although only living 10 or so minutes drive away, I’d never been there before and, to be honest, am unlikely to make a return visit. A reasonable menu although no mention or offer of seeing the ‘specials’. My Starter was ‘dusted calamari with garlic mayonnaise and mixed seasonal leaves, followed by lamb shank on mashed potato and lamb ‘jus’. Vegetables cost extra….. My friends chose the same starters, then the salmon linguini and ham, egg and chips. My disappointment with the starters: sliced raw chillies (which really aren’t mixed leaves!) that I mistook for fine slices of cherry tomatoes, and chunks of chopped bell peppers. I’m allergic to chilli and peppers, and the ‘mixed leaves’ that WERE present were chewy and unpleasant. As was the battered calamari - so chewy as to be almost inedible. Not a good start after I’d spat out the chilli, ignored the peppers and given up on the tough salad leaves. In these days of people having so many allergies, it was remiss of the restaurant NOT to give an accurate description of the contents of the starter, which overall, wasn’t good. The lamb shank and mash was lovely, but swimming in ‘jus’ (gravy!). Side of vegetables was a generous size and colourful and cooked to perfection. The linguini looked like very overcooked spaghetti with a lump of dry, overcooked salmon fillet plonked on the top. The friend who had ham, egg and chips was bitterly disappointed. One solitary egg (the menu said 2), which was rubbery and rock solid, and the ham looked like the cheapest thinly-sliced stuff from a cheap supermarket. Our waitress was pleasant if a little too familiar, and overall, this was just a bog-standard pub lunch dressed up to be a restaurant. And not a nice pub lunch at that. The birthday girl actually stumped up for everyone’s lunch, and we felt it’d be bad manners to complain about the quality of the food. The occasion was buoyed by lovely company. The food let it down. Fool me once, shame one you……. I won’t be going back to be fooled a second time.

Really beautiful place, great selection of drinks and well made food. Unfortunately not much for a vegan or vegetarian but for the experience and pleasure of being it’s very lovely. Been many times and will continue to go!

Booked a table for the family on a Saturday lunch time. Arrived a little early and were greeted at the door. We asked if we could sit downstairs as my father is 91 and partially sighted, but immediately the "hostess" was quite rude saying that we had been asked when we booked and should have said something then! The restaurant was almost empty so there shouldn't been an issue. But she went on with the personal attack, saying that she took the booking herself so she would have asked us. I didn't want any more unpleasant comments so I didn't argue (although when I booked it was a man who took my booking). Things didn't improve. We ordered our food, but the waiter thought he was a comedian. One of the party was vegetarian and ordered vegetable skewers. The waiter insisted on saying "chicken" to her, not once but several times! She then asked if it would be possible to have them without mushrooms but he just said "no". It just wasn't funny. There were several other things that he said to make us uncomfortable, but I can't be bothered to go into it. Eventually I phoned to complain and was told that the Manageress (Elaine) would call back... But have not heard anything.
