Another great meal at the Back Garden. We have been going to the Dormy House for 35 years and it still never fails to impress. Excellent food and friendly, professional staff. Always a joy to return.

Service delivered by Bella, Gareth and Darius was very good. Dishes were tasty and attractive in appearance however the temperature was on the low side. Menu descriptions could be better; no mention of the asparagus with the ravioli, my wife’s duck mentioned cauliflower which was a purée however it had a nice accompaniment of a pastry. The toastie with the pea soup was delicious! Didn’t bother with the champagne which was over priced!

Everything exceeded our expectations. We would regularly visit if we lived nearer, though it was worth our 160 miles round trip. THE SCALLOP was the BEST.

We ate in the Back Garden restaurant as part of our stay at Dormy House - have included it in my Dormy House review. The atmosphere is relaxed, the staff lovely and the food top notch. Creative and beautiful looking dishes that taste SO good. The soufflés both as a starter and desert are amazing! Would highly recommend!

Service and food is 10/10. All ingredients were fresh and flavoursome with excellent presentation. We were celebrating a birthday and our server gave us a nice sweet treat to take away, lovely thought!

From the moment we were lead to our table everything was impeccable. The cocktails were imaginative, appetizers grand: cheese souffle, scottish egg, barrata. Don't miss the sea bass in lobster bisque for main course. We didn't know which dessert to try so we ordered them all - didn't disappoint! Its so warm and cozy inside but I suspect if you go on a mild summer eve, dining outdoors is divine!

We (my wife and I) had lunch at 'The Shed', Dormy House Hotel on Saturday. Whilst the food was excellent, the table service was very poor. We waited over 15 minutes to be offered a menu and to be able to give our drinks order. No-one came to our table to ask if everything was alright, and none of the waiting staff came to our table to see if we wanted a second course - I had to ask a waitress to come and take our dessert order. On top of that The Shed had the cheek to add a 10% service charge, which you dont know you can 'opt out' of until you have paid the bill! Really disappointed and wont be going back in a hurry.

The restaurant has a relaxed, informal feel to it, but at the same time the food and service are both excellent. We had starters of salmon & baby squid, then Dover sole & pork belly, finishing with creme brulee and cheese. Every dish was well-cooked, attractively presented and delicious. I would also recommend the decadent potato dauphinoise which was exceptionally tasty. Our waitress, Bianca, was absolutely charming and helped make the meal a memorable one.

We booked a table in the back garden restaurant for a birthday celebration and were very disappointed with the level of service. We were kept waiting quite a long time before our drinks order was taken and our drinks didn't arrive together. We then had a very long wait for our main course which was actually taken to the wrong table and then served to us with no apology. On a positive, we really enjoyed our steaks which were cooked to perfection. We then asked to see the menu for desserts but unfortunately the menu did not arrive and having waited so long for our main course we decided to forget the dessert. Upon paying the bill, we offered the feedback which was accepted and we received a very sincere apology. This is a lovely hotel and restaurant in a wonderful location very close to where we live and if the service dramatically improved we would certainly visit again. The offer to remove the drinks from our bill was gratefully received.

The menu looks lovely and the photographs look lovely sadly when I rang to book you can only eat in the back garden if you’re actually staying in the Dormy house Hotel. Since Covid they have a shortage of restaurant availability. You can have lunch in the lounge but you can’t book that either

We only ate here because we were late getting to the hotel and had little choice. However so pleased we did, it’s a great place for dinner serving really tasty food. We had the rosemary focaccia which was excellent, crusty top and soft inside. We had the salmon and the duck for mains. The duck was really well cooked, pink, melt in the mouth and a tasty glaze that added zing. The fish was cooked in a water bath which made it moist and the tenderstem broccoli we ordered went really well. We ordered the tarte de tatin which we both thought was slightly burnt. It was soft and the calvados ice cream went well, but we were left with a burnt aftertaste. That said service was great and the food was overall well cooked. We would go back.
