I attended a function in the Wellesley room which is a former carriage house and has a nice atmosphere. It's a good size for a site down meal for 30 people. The food was good but they struggled with service and it came out in dribs and drabs. The gentleman who was looking after us was very nice. There were staff from the kitchen helping out with service and they were a bit scruffy. A dress code would elevate the experience significantly. Parking is tricky in Chiswick but the various parking websites have options. Best to get that tee'd up in advance. A good space, decent food, slightly let down by service not in their attitude which was great but their ability to deal with a private function and the busy pub.

The worst pub I've been in. I couldn't believe the general manager was very rude to my 80 year old father when he asked for a jug of water was told to wait and it would be done when she can get round to it I'd give 0 if I could !!!!!!!AVOID!!!!!!!

? Gunnersbury? £5.95 Amstel❤️ A welcoming laidback local..The Pilot Is located on the corner of a crossroads in a quiet residential area at the western end of Chiswick. The nearest station is Gunnersbury Overground which is a five minute walk..This pub was built in 1860 by architect Adam Askew. The name ‘The Pilot’ comes from the pilot horse, which was the horse that was tied to the river barge or tug boat that helped it to be moved and steered..This is is a good size pub that has three distinct sections. At the front as you walk in is the main bar, as you head towards the back of the main bar you will find a cheerful dining area, at the back of the dining room is a welcoming beer garden complete with covered areas and the old hay store which is used as a function room. There are some nice decorative touches throughout, like the circus wallpaper, colourful parkay flooring and stylish servery..This @fullers pub has a good selection of beers and four cask ales. I decided on an Amstel, decent pint which was average price. The food menu is a mix of pub grub classics and a few dishes from further afield, Fish & Chips cost £18.95..We arrived mid-afternoon on Good Friday back in April. The pub was fairly quiet with a few local punters in attendance. It was a nice day, so we made our way to the garden which is such a nice spot. This pub prides itself on showing live sport and even has a large TV in the garden so you don’t miss any of the action. There are themed quiz nights throughout the month if you want to test your noodle..@thepilotw4 is welcoming laidback local with I thoroughly enjoyed visiting..ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 07.04.23

Looking for somewhere local to Brentford, but accessible to guests coming from further afield, my fiancé and I booked the Wellesley Room at The Pilot for our engagement party for around 65 guests (held on 16 September 2023). We'd already been to The Pilot before at various points in our lives with each other or with friends, and we knew we liked it as a pub, so it was nice to discover the function room.Even with minimum input from us with regards to how we wanted the room set up, the events staff at The Pilot quite clearly have a knack for this sort of thing. We arrived on the day to find some tables and chairs put out and arranged in such a way that those of our guests who couldn't be on their feet for too long had somewhere to sit down, with with more than enough ample seating out in the covered outdoor area that comes reserved as part of booking the Wellesley Room. The Pilot were able to provide festoons of fairy lights, which were all around the room and just perfect for the event, and there were enough points in the beams and walls where our own decorations could be hung up. As a Brentford fan, we wanted to be sure to be able to watch the match that day too - not a problem as there was a large TV in the room with Sky Sports and TNT Sports. Music later on we were able to put on ourselves with the Bluetooth speaker system available in the room (which staff will show you how to set up when you arrive). There is no hire fee, which is really good, just a minimum spend, and if booking over the weekend then expect to pay a £100 deposit to secure the room on a particular date, which is more than reasonable given the location of the pub and the size of the function room. The food options if you require catering are really good and even two weeks on from the event, our friends and family are telling us how much they enjoyed the buffet that we were able to arrange with the in-house catering (the Yorkshire puds were the firm favourite), with options available for all dietary requirements. We were allowed to bring in our own (shop-bought) cake and staff had a fridge where this could be safely stored until needed. It really was the perfect day. There's so much I want to say about it, but if you are local and considering space to hold a function, then we can highly recommend the Wellesley Room. We would also like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ian at The Pilot, who went above and beyond that evening; he looked after us, our families and our friends on the evening to the point that we all considered him a very important person at the party – we honestly owe so much to him for making our engagement party the success that it was. It really was the perfect day, and there was no request too big for staff during the planning stages, or for Ian and his staff on the day.Thank you again to all at The Pilot for giving us a space to make memories that many of us will treasure for years to come!Vegetarian options: Vegetarian and vegan options available on the main pub menu as well as on the events menu for canapés.

We attended for a corporate event and had a private room at the back. We had such a good time, particularly because of the incredible service - especially from Ian! He was absolutely brilliant and worked so hard to make sure we had a great evening. The food is yummy and very generous portions. Delicious drinks and the ambience in the pub is fab. Really friendly and lovely place, with excellent staff. Superb pub!

Booked here for my wife’s birthday party last Sunday and they were just amazing. Nothing was too much trouble! They have a passion for what they do and were so much fun. The bartenders were charming, professional and oozing with charisma #Jude, and looked after everyone including the non-drinkers and the kids. We didn’t have to worry about a thing except the weather, but happily we got that too☀️.I cannot enthuse enough how the managers (Liz and Ian) made the day super-special…!!Highly recommended and would definitely book here again.

I ended up in The Pilot because no seating was available in pubs by the river, but it didn't disappoint. I was planning to go for a crab burger. Unfortunately, they were running out. Instead, I had a cheeseburger. These guys' burger is exceptional!!! I can't recommend enough. They also have a good beer selection and a chill atmosphere. I am not a regular in the area, but I will visit again.

We attended a Birthday Party here, we were lucky to find a parking space right outside. I had a look at the Drinks Menu via the Internet before we came. The Drinks Menu on the Internet advertises Pol Roger Champagne at £ 67 a bottle, so we had quite a few bottles, only to find out that the actual price was £ 83 per bottle and not as advertised on their Drinks Menu. If prices have increased, they should update their Website. Other than that, it was a fantastic evening, food and service was good, and the Wellesley Room was ideal for our Party. Nice place!

I was cycling past in the morning on a 14 mile bike ride and saw this quirky little corner pub on the hottest day of the year! I had to stop for a quick drink and the team were very nice and friendly and served me quickly. I sat in the micro garden at the front and enjoy a nice chat with another customer who had the same idea of being out.On the way back (Saturday night) I stopped off again and this time it was much busier with a friendly crowd- I got served quickly again and then sat around the side of the pub where they’ve got some benches kind of built of brick where it was quiet.I didn’t try the food but it was busy and I’m sure it’s a nice. One thing to watch out for is security as when I sat quietly drinking my pint and I saw a young kid with his face covered cycling past looking into cars with a flashlight. He was clearly looking for valuables to steal - I shouted him away but I’m sure that won’t be a deterrent- it would be great if the pub at cctv that covered this angle as well so people parking their cars can feel safe as well.

What a total disappointment! Dinner with my 2 adult sons. Roast beef all round ordered, only 1 beef left we was told. The more need available, so two beef one pork ordered. The pork ok the two beef so raw, so taken away and new plates served. This time with Bisto gravy and beef curled up from over cooking and tough as old boots. On to dessert, I ordered macerated strawberries with burnt meringue and vanilla cream. What was served was 5 strawberries cut up, the only Maceration was water, the meringues broken up shop bought served with squirty cream! When I enquired the only explanation given was the cream was Vegan! Nothing like described on menu (sticky toffee pudding I was told ok) £66 of total disappointment and family dinner a disaster, never again!

Hugely disappointed with our experience here today. Service was shocking, food average at best. Despite being really quiet we waited over 40 mins for 2 roasts and a chicken pie. Ordered a second round of drinks which honestly the drinks sat on a tray on the bar counter for 10 mins and which I ended up collecting myself. The meal itself was very average, saved by a lovely properly hot gravy. Two staff on duty, not remotely interested — 3.20pm — one of them sat down in the bar with a chef for his lunch and the other had his lunch behind the bar whilst serving customers. No one checking restaurant customers. We’d been waiting 20 mins for the one dessert we’d ordered — Lemon Tart — but choose to cancel as it clearly wasn’t going to be coming any time soon and we were running out of time. Finally the ladies & gents toilets which are located in the basement were out of order — instead of putting a sign at the top of the stairs they allowed customers to go down to discover the toilets were out or order.

We decided to visit this pub to watch the Women’s World Cup Final. Although they were fully booked they were so accommodating and we managed to get some seats at the bar. The staff were so friendly and the atmosphere was so welcoming. The owners and staff should be very proud of how inclusive and welcoming the space is.

Excellent Sunday lunch, staying in Chiswick (nearer Hammersmith side on the river) and was well worth the walk. Portions just right, the beef was cooked to perfection and cauliflower cheese one of the best we have had. All the staff very welcoming and friendly. We sat in the garden which was nicely laid out - shame about the rain but lots of space under cover to still enjoy. We will be back!

A return visit to an old haunt - we used to live directly across the road from The Pilot. Lovely to return and enjoy the place again. Thanks to Ian for being attentive and professional. Hope to be back soon.
