So I rang these guys as it says they fry their chips separately from the fish / meat, the person on the phone told me when they’re busy they don’t bother frying them separately - that’s ridiculous and the inconsistency means you can’t trust them - if you’ve got an allergy to fish or are vegetarian I’d keep away from this place. I’m only highlighting this because they clearly state on their web site that they fry their chips separately to the meat and fish.Vegetarian options: No, they cook everything wirh the meat and fishDietary restrictions: Not gluten freeNot veganNot vegetarian

This shop likes to take advantage. Their is a lunch time special from 12 till 6 of chips n battered sausage for £4.50 but if you ask for that they will charge you £6 even thou they offer a deal price. Be carefull people.

Some years ago, Skipjacks won a major award for its amazing fish and chips and it continues to be worthy of that award. Portions are huge and delicious. All the traditional extras are available too. Frying is in vegetable oil and being in an area with a large Jewish community, having your fish fried in matzo meal is available as an option in stead of the standard batter.

I visited the Skipjack fish and chips takeaway in November 2023. Twice now as my first experience of the food served was disappointing. I am leaving this feedback for the owners and the members of the public who may visit. I had a large order of 3 Haddock's, Family and Regular chips with Sausage in batter on my first visit as I know how good Skipjacks was. I returned after a long absence. The Chips were refried and from the afternoon lunch period. The Sausage in batter was awful. The Haddock were ok but have tasted better in Blue Oyster on Preston Road. I went again this evening thinking it was a one off. But no, again refried chips from the afternoon, the sausage in batter - yuk, and the Cod was not fresh. Why did I go again well I went to the School off Camrose Avenue about 50 years ago when it was a Grammar school! I know the area well and how it has developed over the years. Skipjack's use to be a good Fish and chip shop and got the accolades from the press. But now sadly it has declined. The owners should not do this to their customers. I will visit the chip shop so that a face can be put to this review. As I have lived in the area over 50 years and know many of the other restaurants and eateries I feel I can leave a fair review as I love my food and don't mind paying but do expect quality food to be served as a paying customer supporting the hospitality industry as I can cook very well at home!Parking: Parking on slip road is free after 6:30pm.
