Not a child friendly pub. The tall man with the facial hair repeatedly tells our children and other parents children off for everything. This has happened on multiple occasions, always during the daytime and always while it’s fairly empty. I guess they want them to just sit and look at phones. I would avoid this place if you have children.

Took my dad for lunch here yesterday. Absolutely exceeded my expectations. Staff took the time to answer any questions re menu and wine and took good care of us. The food was incredible and nothing but high praise for this restaurant. Will definitely be returning in the very near future.

Food used to be better. Jamon croquetas had no taste. Paella was burnt. Cauliflower salad didn’t seem be be made in the restaurant.

Everything was lovely until the end. I didn't appreciate being told they needed the table for someone else minutes after I'd finished eating when I had booked the table and been there less than an hour. Bizarre behaviour given how many other empty tables they were and ruined what was otherwise a nice meal. I go to the Gatehouse regularly for the theatre but think I'll go elsewhere for food in the future.

Maybe the wrong day to have a roast on Mother's Day. The staff were polite, welcoming, and pleasant. Service was good. However, the roast chicken or the Yorkshire pudding was very salty. The potatoes tasted like they were reheated tough on the outside eben the gravey couldn't soften themHow disappointing. Well, the easiest meal to cook was not worth leaving home for. The Bull still has the best roast. There, roast potatoes are perfect

Please be aware that when you have a dog, you sit a particular area closed to the entrance doors only. Particularly it happens on Sundays or busy times. David who is staff and he was not friendly and very aggressive regarding our sitting and the limited time for Sunday lunch. We understand that Sundays are very busy days but he could communicate with customers more friendly. We already booked our tables in advance and are regular customers for a long time. He chased out even though we didn’t finish our dessert and coffee. It was very disappointing and embarrassing for our guests. It used be a friendly place but the quality of service and pet friendliness seem to be changed.

For such a large pub this is an extraordinary friendly venue with the feel of a “local”.Excellent beer, food, service.Great atmosphere, ambience and décor. Only one little niggle , it’s very very dark inside, had to use our “flashlight” phone facility to see and read the menu!Good theatre upstairs too!

The establishment is lovely inside. Staff were very polite, friendly and attentive. We had a roast dinner. The flavours and portions were good. The roast belly of pork was very tough and fatty. The crackling was chewy. It hadn't been cooked low and slow like pork belly should be. The roast potatoes were crispy but very dry. The flavours were nice. I would definitely go back and try something else next time.Kid-friendliness: They do half portions for the kids. Staff were really nice to our boys.
