Terrible service and food distinctly average. No flavour or authenticity.

My daughter lives in Peckham and so when I pop over we always eat here. The food is fabulous and the staff are all brilliant. The lunch time special is so tasty and a bargin which will keep you going all day.

Delicious and nutritious plant-based vegan food served with great, friendly service. The restaurant is small and cozy with good vibes all around. I would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking of trying En Root!P.S their plantain is banging.

Needed a saturday dosa during Pride, which ruled out the usual shopping and nosh trip to Govinda's - the Hare Krishna place in Soho - we'd never have got in and so went local. Cant understand the complaints about it not being authentic South Indian. Of course its not, its South Indian food cooked by vegan Caribbeans - it just comes out different, but the staff have done their homework. No expense has been spent on the decor. I mean none at all, scruffy tables and chairs and a few nick nacks on the wall. I suspect its as much a prep kitchen for their outdoor catering operation. So the pani puri was wholemeal - inauthentic and with added beetroot - more inauthentic -but great. the crisp dosa matched a roadside dhaba in Tamil Nadu, despite the different spicing and the jelly coconut and fresh juice were exceptional. The chaats had a more Carribbean note on the chilli but you cant tell me that Carribean cultures dont have a strong Indian influence and for that matter gene-pool. I visit India twice a year this stands up to anything I regularly eat there. It just works.

Amazing food! You will not miss meat! I had the tandoori wings and it was fantastic. Will definately be back. Went with friends and all of us were satisfied.

Just had the masala dosa and it was so yum!! The coconut chutney in particular was a stunningly delicate delight, would buy jars of it if I could...

No Harm In Trying

What a great little gem this is, a straight forward five-minute walk from Clapham North tube station. The modestly sized cafe evokes bohemian vibes, fusing India and Jamaica, as instrumental jazz provides an audible backdrop to the dining experience. We encountered the owner who additionally played chef and waiter when we visited on a weekday for lunch - very friendly and keen to impress. The dishes ordered arrived in good time and met the standard for good café food of a unique indo-carribbean variety. Every dish seems to be unique and hit the spot in filling a hungry belly.I'll be coming back to taste the para-tacos. This place is absolutely worth a try, especially considering the very few entirely-vegan places that exist south of the river.Vegetarian options: Everything's vegan ?

I really dont like writing bad reviews but... My friend and I were shocked when we went there today (we are both vegan). The mangolassi was delicious but the food we had had a really strange taste like spoiled. We could not even finish it and now my stomach feels very bad. The interiour looks cute and the staff was nice but never had such bad food in a long time and it was really expensive for tiny portions as well. Can not recommend in any way ( we had the pani puri- a dish i was in love with when i tried it from an imbiss in brick lane - tastet strange i had to cover it wirh soup to eat it, and the jerk dosa was really strange and tasted like stomach acid). I dont know if one of the ingredients were spoiled or it always tastes like this but me and my friend had the same opinion and we are usually not picky eaters.

I enjoyed everything I tried here: the masala dosa was filled with saag aloo and I paired it with the sweet and salty plantains on the side. The mango lassi was delicious with the taste of cardamom and a hint of coconut and so big I had to take some home! There are only a few places to sit in the Clapham branch, but I was not rushed away and staff were lovely. Definitely recommend for an affordable and nourishing meal! I'd buy their cookbook if they wrote one!

Visited the Peckham branch. Not authentic southern Indian. The dosa had a sprinkling of mushroom/ plantain mix. It was jerk! I know not authentic, but it was HOT and lacking in spice flavour. The watery soup was foul. ( needed some miso paste or more stock and a few lentils and herbs to give it some flavour)….perhaps they ran out. The staff were lovely. We ordered 2 starters for my friend as a main and the chef apologised for not bringing out the other mains. That was nice of him to explain the error and we had our meals very quickly. Can’t fault the staff, just need to put more food in the dosa, perhaps just serve on full of the mushroom plantain. Easy on the heat and increase the spices. I’m a great cook and have been vegan for years so I know what I’m talking about!

Came here as had a vegan visitor in town. Interesting menu, lots of variety. Good portion sizes. Enjoyed the Tandoori Wings, my meat eating partner said they tasted like meat. Very good service. Nice ambiance for a small restaurant.

The food is great in quality, flavour and presentation, the price is reasonable and the personnel (cuisine, waiters) is extremely kind. The place is incredibly dirty though, there were even flies flying over our table, cleaning standards at the lowest. The place needs a serious, deep cleaning. Would not go again specifically for this reason unfortunately.

Incredible Vegan oasis with absolutely delicious authentic plant based Indian cuisine, I’m confused as to why people have said the portions are small as I have always found them to be really large and I always leave super satisfiedThe service is wonderfully friendly and the owners and staff always take time to explain the menu and make recommendations every time I visitEn Root is my absolute favourite Vegan restaurant in London ?
