So many rave reviews here made me stop and think. However, I wasn’t imagining my less than average tasting and chewy sinuous ribeye steak. It was cooked rare to medium - as requested. Rather too much salt. For £48 this is simply just not worth it. Other steak houses, such as Temper, offer better steak selections with far more flavour.Now, the sides…..oh boy….£6 ish for 3 new potatoes. The decimated mac and cheese best be avoided. Mushrooms were tasty.Cabbage was cabbage.Puddings very good. I could eat a truckload of the sticky toffee sundae thing.So, for a place that does steaks, it was very very disappointing.

The service is always friendly and accommodating. The food is always delicious. The cocktails are always of the highest quality. I think the maple bacon as a starter (though listed as a side) might be the best kept secret on the menu.

My husband and I had a lovely dinner yesterday. The steak - Chateaubriand - was perfectly cooked, and the sides - creamed spinach and garlic mushrooms were amazingly harmonised with the steak. Chips were crispy and seasoned well.The staff for my table was very attentive and professional. Even though the restaurant was busy, the service was good enough. The borough branch is a little bit more casual than other branches, but still good to go for a special occasion. Recommend this place!

It is rarely that I make a point of leaving a review because I’m so please but I booked a table for 2 on a Sunday evening for my mum’s birthday dinner and I was really chuffed by the attentive service from our waiter Malcolm! He went above and beyond - our glasses were being refilled regularly, he was very sweet and nothing was too much trouble. Although we kept going back and forth with our menu choices, he was patient and not at all pushy or annoying! I’ve been to a different Hawksmoor before so I won’t comment too much on the food but unsurprisingly our steak was impeccably cooked. The food and wine was incredible and I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that they brought us another bottle as a small fly had ended up in my glass! Stellar service! I wish I could give more stars specifically to Malcom because he was just fantastic and make our experience so positive!

Initially concerned when we walked in and saw the decor, but we needn’t have been. We had a fantastic meal and our waiter was great. Some of the best steaks we’ve ever had. Will definitely be back.

Nice place to have a dinner close to Borough market. A friend of mine suggested it but not sure if I would come back. A bit pricey for what we took: a starter to share, a fillet (burnt outside) with chips as main dish and a bottle of standard Italian red wine more then 120 pounds each. Maybe too

It’s okay, nothing original, good food but the price is higher than it should be. It trades off it’s name/reputation but it’s slipped over the years. Looking at £70+ per head (with minimal drinks)

I don’t know if we just came in on an unlucky day, but we were told there’d be a 30 minute wait on steaks, which wasn’t a problem. I’ve eaten at different Hawksmoors many times and thought it worth it for a good steak. My steak came out drastically over cooked, I’d asked for medium rare, it was more medium well. Dry. Pretty horrific. Maybe one of the worst pieces of rib eye I’ve ever eaten. My guests steaks - a fillet and a sirloin - were both undercooked, both had asked for medium and both were really pink and extremely bloody. It wasn’t worth another wait to send them back - we didn’t have the time as we had an appointment after - we just ate them, all clearly unimpressed and to be honest it was a real struggle. Massive shame as the hawksmoor roasts are unreal, but I don’t think I would return for steak again.
