The best pies in North London!Everything is made fresh on the day, and I fact their menu changes daily.I highly recommend this spot!

The queue always deterred me but went during the week and had one of the best meals I’ve had in a while here. The menu changes, it’s fresh, there’s experimentation without pretention, and when the waitress asked us what we thought, and then proceeded to actually listen, we knew this place was worth the wait.I’d recommend coming during low volume hours to really soak in the experience of good food, lovely staff and great atmosphere. Also sit outside if you can! Even during the winter they had heaters and it’s a bit more audible if you’re there to catch up with friends.Thank you to the Clarence Tavern and I look forward to coming back!

Food is nice enough, but absurdly overpriced. 50 quid for a pie ! that is advertised for two people but really only 1.5. Also very much a pot pie, which should be advertised rather than simply chicken pie. Not worth it. Atmosphere and service okay/middling. You could have a less costly and better meal with friendlier and buzzier atmosphere in Soho / covent garden.

Absolutely delicious- couldn’t recommend more. Not only was the food amazing, the service was fantastic. The gentleman who served our wine was so passionate and told us all about the process- also very environmentally conscious which was so refreshing to hear. The poussin and dauphinois were out of this world. Will definitely be

We had a reservation at 2.15pm Sunday and arrived on time and we were left waiting in the busy restaurant for 10 minutes, without any greeting from staff. A server then greeted his friend who came in after us and seated him. We had to ask to be seated. It was really slow to get served, by the time we ordered the food had run out and we had to change our order. We ordered drinks which didn't come and we had to ask for them again. These then arrived at 3pm and one drink was missing from the order. People around us were having a similar problem getting served and you could see that staff were overwhelmed. The menu structure was lacking as a sharing plate of pork was £52 this came with some sauerkraut and a piece of sausage. It looked grey and was pretty average. The fact that this didn't come with any sides was pretty mad for the price point. The potato dauphinoise was delicious and the cabbage was good but the variety of sides was pretty limited. The food was ok but we would not be returning. The atmosphere was so loud as well and felt like they had crammed a lot of tables into the space, we have no idea why it was so busy as we felt like it was extremely overrated food and pretty dire service unfortunately.

Super neighbourhood gastro pub with a great selection of wines , including some on tap.Relaxed but attentive service from friendly staff. At first we just came for a drink but they were more than accommodating when we also decided to eat.We had a selection of plates to share between 2 of us and everything was so fresh and delicious.Hats off to the team, keep up the great workVegetarian options: Fantastic selection of dishes really fresh ingredients and great flavours.

The Clarence is one of those special places that you have to pinch yourself that it’s real and then proceed to rave about it to all your friends and bring them in.The vibe is a casual pub/shop for wine and takeaway sandwiches. But the food and the service make you feel like you’re at a whole other level. The staff is excellent and knowledgeable about the menu and are always incredibly welcoming. During the pandemic they expanded the patio area, which makes it even better in the summer and spring. The wine list is next level (inquire about the cellar list if you want some expertise from Julia) and you can find some absolute bangers there for a price range of reasonable to a fancy meal. The food is simply delicious. The chips are a must every time you go, and then choose your adventure with the daily specials. The best way to experience the Clarence is with friends and ordering a majority of the menu to split with the table family style.Go, go now, you won’t regret it.

Nice sharing platters and tasty desserts. Service was friendly and attentive, and the specials board was brought out to each table which was a nice touch. However, we felt that the pasta dishes were a little
