I am a local and have been stopping at Uncle Nam’s for years to get my favorites… rare beef Pho, papaya salad, bahn mi, and summer rolls. This is the most flavorful vietnamese restaurant I know in London, and the staff is always attentive. The lady at the counter always recognizes me and its always such a sweet moment to speak with her. It feels good to be so welcomed.Best authentic food, super flavorful and textured, and best team. Thank you ? this stays my favorite place!

Me and my partner had no issue with the food or the ambiance, but cannot tell the same about the service. Our feeling was that we were undesired customers. The two waitresses were not rude, but were rushing us to finish as soon as possible.Since the moment I called to make a reservation, a waitress warned me over the phone that the restaurant was closing at 10, even if I had made clear that we could arrive by 8.30.At our arrival, we made our order and were reminded that the restaurant was closing at 10. Moreover, the waitress did not share the password of the Wi-Fi (there were 2 called Uncle Nam’s) saying she didn’t know it.When he had still food in his plate and I was still eating, a waitress asked my partner if he was done, as if she wanted to take his plate away. After we were done eating our mains and our plates were removed, no one asked us if we wanted a dessert or anything else.In the meantime, we heard the reminder to other costumers that the restaurant was closing at 10 and they didn’t have much time if they wanted to order something else.In the end, we were out of the restaurant by 9.30, way before the closing time.In conclusion: we will not come back, not with this staff. And for everyone out there remember: the restaurant closes at 10.

Great food and a friendly and relaxed atmosphere! Came here to catch up with family and we all loved our meals (summer rolls, Vietnamese pancakes, vermicelli noodles, Vietnamese coffees). Service was very friendly and they kindly talked us through how best to eat the pancakes when we asked. Also I appreciated that they didn’t play very loud music (unlike other London restaurants) so we could have good conversations with everyone at our table. Will definitely be coming back!

I recently dined at Uncle Nam's for some Vietnamese cuisine with an old-time friend, and I'd like to share my honest experience.Firstly, the food at Uncle Nam's was decent, but unfortunately, I can't say the same for the service. It was an odd and somewhat frustrating experience. As soon as we were seated, both waitresses started asking if we had made our decisions about our orders, and they continued to check on us frequently for the next 20 minutes. This constant attention felt a bit overwhelming and unnecessary, especially since we hadn't had ample time to browse the menu. The real issue arose once our dishes arrived. About 10 minutes after our food was served, the waitstaff began asking if we had finished eating, despite the fact that we were still clearly enjoying our meals. This persistent questioning continued even though the restaurant didn't seem overly busy, and there was no evident need for our table. It had an unfortunate impact on our dining experience and made us feel rushed. While the food at Uncle Nam's was satisfactory, the overly attentive service that disrupted our meal was disappointing. I hope that the restaurant can find a better balance between attentiveness and allowing diners to enjoy their meals at their own pace.

Nice, unpretentious Vietnamese eatery. Try the spicy beef and pork soup. It is to die for.
