This is what 10pounds looks like for YamaMomo to order to home. Disgusting

Klaus was an absolute star. We walked in without a reservation on a Wednesday night and were sat in his full section in between a big party and a difficult table. He was working with a new ordering system. He was kind, attentive and genuinely cared about making sure he was getting things right even with a challenging section. The food and drinks were great as well! Got happy hours cocktails and LOVED the milk punch. Had dumplings, tempera and sushi - all delicious. We will definitely be back.

A group of us booked here for a much needed catch up after a really stressful time at work as teachers. When we arrived we informed the manager AJ that despite we had originally booked for 4 there would be more of us coming which he said was fine. However, despite ordering drinks and preparing to order food he came over shortly after and said the table next to us was not available. We queried this based on his previous reassurance and he could not give a proper answer as to when customers were due. He then brought a walk in customer to one of the tables despite the fact we were using it and spending a lot of money on drinks (we had given up on food at this point as he had made us feel unwelcome) and then blamed us for the customer leaving. This was a clear contradiction as he had said the tables were booked yet was offering them to walk ins despite the fact we were offering our custom. When more of our party arrived as pre warned he told them they could not be accommodated despite the fact there were multiple empty tables and he refused them access which was extremely demeaning. We decided to leave and give our custom to Megan's across the road which was extremely welcoming and accommodating. This was a really disheartening experience and there was no clear reason as to why we were made to feel unwelcome and no effort made by AJ to accommodate us or make us feel comfortable. I previously was a regular visitor but now myself and my colleagues will not be returning here despite being local to the area and would advise against this place if you are a non white person or group who would like to feel welcome somewhere. We paid the bill in full but asked for the service charge to be removed due to the inhospitality which they queried which again showed the lack of self awareness. It is such a shame but at least we know how the management is under AJ and will not be returning again as a group or individually.

Good food: mushroom miso, tataki tuna, seafood tempura, peri peri yakitori, green tea. Prompt, friendly service. But was crowded and the tables rammed tight. Lack of space means we will not return.

Booking for six people for my son’s birthday. Didn’t start off well by standing by the entrance bar and the hostess ignoring us for about five minutes without a word even though we were standing right in front of her. Seated fine, but then had to ask for menus. Once we had looked at these we then had to ask to order drinks. Same thing happened again with the food, surely it shouldn’t be difficult to come over to a table and serve people? Food arrived, two mains missing, no apology, no comms as to how long it would take to rectify, meanwhile everyone else was eating. 15-20 minutes later one of the dishes (rice) arrived but not the chicken which was to be another 10 minutes by which time everyone else would have finished so cancelled. We had to ask for everything and the staff seemed completely oblivious to them working in a service industry. Asked for the birthday cake which duly arrived, with spoons but no plates. Had to ask again. The food was average at best but the service was abysmal. To add insult to injury I then had to explain to the manager why I didn’t want to pay the service charge. First and last visit.

some good dishes and some slightly average : miso soup was good, nasu goma (aubergine) was excellent. In the mixed tempura the broccoli and prawn were good, courgette rather bland. Tuna and truffle mayo sushi rolls very good , tiger rolls nothing special. chicken katsu don buri : the katsu was rather dry, there wasn't a sauce, the rice was heavy. Overall service was very good , prices a bit high - other local places such as sushi revolution give you more for less. Glad we went but don't expect to go back.

Overall, it was a good experience. Most of the food was very delicious indeed. The scallops were shockingly awful. The drinks were excellent but took an absolute age to come to the table, Yama Momo lost making more money from me as I was sitting for long periods of time with an empty glass as I was happy to buy plenty more. The place was very busy, I recommend more bar staff to keep up with the demand for cocktails as I know it is time consuming making such creative beverages. All three of us had a great night, though. Thank you to all of the staff as they were friendly and polite.

We come here fairly regularly and despite the good food, are always disappointed with the service. It wouldn’t matter so much if you weren’t paying central London prices. Drinks didn’t arrive of time, there were lazy waiters not paying attention to any of the guests, one even declaring loudly how bored he was. This really made me a little infuriated as we paid our £137 bill. Food tastes great, just bear with the student cafe service and lack of leadership from the management team when trying to discuss this.

I’ve been to Yama Momo a few times and I would highly recommend the volcano roll. It is definitely the best thing on the menu . Everything else was also delicious but the volcano roll is what stands out. The lychee martini is a good go to cocktail as well. Food is good but I would say it’s pretty expensive.

Amazing Food, outstanding service and can't believe we spend so much money going to fancy Japanese in Mayfair when we have a better one on our doorstep. Will definitely see us soon.

Excellent local Japanese restaurant.. We have been enjoying special events here the last couple of years, especially in July - my birthday and wedding anniversary month! Fresh and delicious sushi rolls, chased with a delectable array of cocktails! Perfect!Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options across the menu.Kid-friendliness: Always see families in Yama Momo, which is a good sign.
