Amazing spot. Bring your own booze which saves on the bill :) the food is reasonably priced and very tasty. We ordered the mix grill and doesn’t disappoint

Food is average nothing wow.but service was disgusting. They treat you by your colour , If you are asian they throw dish on your face without a word but if its white they smile and say excuse me sir , Disgusting

Amazing food, suggest the mixed grill. Also i lost my wallet at the restaurant and did not know where i had lost it. TAYYABS posted it to me, really lovely of them AND NO THE REVIEW WAS NOT WRITTEN because of the wallet return. I will return because the food was EXCELLANT. Many thanks

The manager here was very rude. We had booked but he had given our table away and told us to wait in the walk-in queue. He then eventually offered us a table telling us that we would need to leave in 50 minutes. We left and went to a different restaurant instead. Avoid this restaurant, much better more highly rated Indian restaurants nearby on Brick Lane.

The waiter taking my order was abrupt and would not listen. The food was not as expected. I have been to several restaurants. Tayyab will not see me again! The orders were taken individually but arrived mixed in the same plates. Chicken ordered was mixed with lamb chops. Diners did not know who had what. The bill was not individual so there was no way to know if the charge was correct.

I've been to this place for more than 20 years when it was just a series of little shops and the driveway in between. Great place when it's not busy, but it can be so smoky from the hot plates..

The entrance is crowded and a little chaotic, even when you have a reservation. But once you get to your table the magic starts to happen. The lamb chops are sublime.

We had a lovely lunch here on Saturday to celebrate our parents 50th Wedding anniversary. It was busy but not crowded, service was very good and waiters were attentive. The food was excellent. We were a group of 12 and including 4 children. The kids enjoyed the kebab chicken and prawns and naan bread. We would return. A good time to go as opposed to the evening when it gets much busier.

We had booked for dinner and thought it might be busy, but the entrance was like a rugby scrum. It was packed and extremely chaotic, with waiters having to barge through the crowd with food for those already sitting. There was absolutely no room to move in "reception" as those with bookings were surrounded by those without bookings. It was like being on an overcrowded tube. We realised there was zero chance of us actually getting our table so we left.

Awful place was told to come back in 30minutes ! I asked if I could book for 30mins and was told no by a rude member of staff ! I then said wow amazing and was replied to by member of staff at reception saying "Yeah Amazing" . Went elsewhere . Would never set foot in this awful place again

Food was really good. Had to queue for about 40 minutes but it was worth it. The chicken korahi was the best but the lamb was not as good. Grills were great too.

Came here for an early dinner ( 5.30) It was already pretty busy but we were shown to our table quickly. Popadoms and salad brought to the table straight away and we didn't have to wait long for our meals which were very tasty. Don't understand some people's comments in other reviews. Waiters were friendly, there was plenty of tap water available and everything a seemed clean. Would definitely recommend.

This is the birthday meal for my late best friend who died of Covid two years ago. He being Indian origin from Trinidad it is always a curry his fav. I have trouble believing some of the reviews. The place was heaving on a Friday night. It was so busy. Yes we had to wait but always a good sign. The food was fast and furious but we all (9) loved it. The lamb chops are excellent. It is what it says no frills Indian. Not a large menu but that I can understand. Punjabi cuisine is different from other Indians and for the better. I say go for it. How can it be bad when it full up. Certainly go there again. You can also BYO drink which is great as there is a Tesco express nearby.

Born and bred in East London, i am as asian as they come. In my late 30's i grew up with Tayyabs and have witnessed their transition. The OG's of East London will be able relate to this review. If you know you know, be sure to hit like on this review.Credit is given where credit is due, Tayyabs were the first people in East London to introduce halal beef/cheese burgers. My uncle used to buy me a burger everytime we passed their restaurant after an evening at the East London Mosque. Their counter was near the window and the burgers were served through the window back in the early 90's.Anyway, i digress, I've been to Tayyabs many times before over the years this time it was a revisit after 7 or more years. My experience was so bad and dissapointing i have had to leave a negative review. The business still appears to be held within the Tayyabs family however the generation that has taken over now are bringing the business down fast and hard.1. Service is appalling. Asian customers are second class citizens. The racism is rife, it is nothing short of racism. All English / white customers are given priority. We were not attended to and i had to get up from my seat and go to the main counter to pay for the bill.2. The food is the worst Pakistani / Punjabi / Indian food i've had. I love a curry as i grew up eating it. This was no curry, there was no salt, no spice and the lack of flavour was astonishing. They were clearly catering for a particular palate, which explained the kind of customer clientele they had. This explains why Tayyabs never has south asian customers. Clearly i didn't receive the memo in time otherwise i would have avoided it.People who have only eaten at Tayyabs i suggest you explore London. Even the curry served in a chicken and chip shop will serve you tastier curries than Tayyabs.3. The mango chutney was so watery it was very tricky keeping it on the papadom. I ordered a mago lassi which never arrived and their naan bread is no naan, it appears their naan was machine made & round more like a roti than a naan bread.4. The water jugs are prefilled with water, kept in the open on each table for god knows how long. What if something is dying in there and we dont even know about it?Their water glasses are dirty, a lot of water marks indicating they have not changed their glasses in a very long time.5. The 3 sauces, chilli, mint and mango chutney were left open on each and every table.6. Their Lamb chops was very hard, stringy and chewy. Not the best quality meat for lamb chops.7. Paid £15 for 3 peices of small Tandoori King Prawns. I love King Prawns, for it is a must have when visiting indian restaurants. I was so bitterly disappointed and so was my wife. Very chewy, not succulent and it was tastless.8. Who gets the rice wrong? Tayyabs did! They use a very cheap quality brand of rice. Their regular non-asian punters will never be able to tell what they're eating and will be none the wiser. The rice was horrible far from pilau rice and the portion was so small did not justify the price tag of £4.50.9. The Popadoms just made it in terms of taste however again the £1 per Poppadom is a extortionate.10. The Karahi chicken tasted like marshmallows in a tasteless sauce. Far from being a Karahi. There was absolutely nothing i liked about Tayyabs. In fact i was left feeling very angry, Tayyabs was a household name back in the day. I had a real connection to Tayyabs only to receive the kind of food and service i received when i went there with my family.I appreciate they don't serve alcohol but they do encourage you to bring your own. They will provide you with wine glasses, helping you drink your drink whilst corkage is free. The only reason why Tayyabs is still surviving is because they are very popular across z-list punters from the city. Reviews and advertisements in magazines and newspapers across London. Ultimately the Tayyabs word of mouth is still going strong. No amount of reviews like mine will have any impact on Tayyabs.Hit like if you enjoyed this review.

Tayyabs is definitely one of the best in town. The dishes and services are superb. Lamb Chops are definitely the best and can’t missed. Highly recommended.
