It’s been 20 years since I’d been here and I’m gutted I hadn’t been back sooner. Won’t leave it so long next time. Food was amazing and so was the service. Everything we ate was delicious. Very generous with the bread basket and the portions of the meal itself was great. Very welcoming staff.

I decided to book the private dining room (again) to treat my work teams on the occasion of leaving my job after 20 years. The room was beautifully set up, the waiting service impeccable. The food was absolutely excellent, all my people with allergies and special preferences were catered for and everyone was totally impressed. The costs is also pretty reasonable given the amount of food and drink consumed. Totally recommended for a special night out.

Phenomenal! The food, experience, service and ambiance was excellent! We had starters of the special menu, we also had amazing oysters. The Steak, Lamb dishes and Sides were all spot on. The service was 10/10 and it was an extremely well run service.

We booked the room to celebrate our daughter’s 50th birthday. There were 14 of us. Everything we had asked for and planned with Tania, the events’ manager, was carried out to perfection. Harry, the waiter, was superb. He did everything he possibly could to make the event enjoyable and relaxed for everyone. The food and service were excellent. A truly memorable occasion and highly recommended.

Tania was brilliant when I made the booking, nothing was too much trouble and made it very straight forward. The service on the night was outstanding and the food was excellent. wow what an experience, as a family of 28 we had an absolutely amazing afternoon in the Chapter One Private Dining suite on Sunday, the occasion was amazing for all the right reasons .. The Chapter One Dining Team of Hari, Simran & Mollie were alongside us all afternoon to make sure that the service was perfect (including the Christmas music). The food excelled, Christmas Dinner at it's finest, and of course a great family atmosphere made it a memorable event, Many many thanks to all of The Chapter One Team we look forward to repeating again in 2024.

The food is excellent and great value for the money, served by an excellent front of house team who look after every guest superbly well, even when they are busy. This time we had the Christmas 3 course menu which was a total joy. We will be back.

We have used Chapter One on and off for well over 20 years but have not been since Covid. The restaurant certainly feels less formal these days but the service although always high end is a lot more friendlier we found. The atmosphere on a Friday was very good erring on the side of noisy, but this could be because many gatherings were Christmas get togethers. Food was very good. My ravioli was beautiful but if I had to be slightly critical I would say pasta was not quite as thin and I would like and the chicken filling was slightly course and not as delicate as you might expect. The dish was still great though. Bream for mains was excellent, very tasty and I can’t wait to return for this dish alone. Dessert of warm plum Pudding was very good too (although it does taste exactly like Christmas pudding) so you might want to rethink if you don’t like that. Service was friendly and attentive and less austere as in previous years. This will appeal to many but maybe that’s what made this neighbourhood gem feel a cut above the rest. We had a great night and will definitely return soon.

Fantastic time in the private dining room to celebrate a big birthday with 20 family members. What a great find. We had exclusive use of the room for 5 hours, our own menu and dedicated staff. No detail was overlook and they worked with us to plan such a special day. Great food and great venue. They even catered fantastically for the children.

Private Dining Room hired for our neighbourhood Christmas gathering. The staff at Chapter One are so organised and lovely to work with. The room was decorated beautifully, so festive. The 3 course meal was outstanding especially for 14 people. Everything was hot and it all came out seamlessly. It was even better than last year which was hard to beat. We loved having the private room which has a bar and a make shift dance area. It was easy to connect to their sound system so we could have our playlist. Everything was just perfect. We love coming to Chapter One every year!

We were greeted promptly and shown to our table, it was nice to find it was not very close to the next one and all the tables had room around them. The food was delicious, the service was discreet but very efficient by excellent, attentive staff. All in all it was a lovely experience and my friend really enjoyed her Birthday lunch. I would definitely go again and would recommend Chapter One to anyone wanting a lovely dining experience.

First of all plenty of parking on the premises thats a bonus !well presented ,welcoming staff . Own large room upstairs and served exceptionally by Simran our waitress Food plentiful good range and cooked to requirements ie steaks ,beef etc Perfect irish coffee to round off the evening The whole of the staff made it a very pleasant place to have a Party Would book again if an occasion arises .

It was my wife's birthday so I wanted something special. Unfortunately we probably would have had a better Sunday roast at the local Toby. We ordered a dozen oysters but they only had seven left so we had them. But the oysters came dressed with a sweet dressing. Not nice and totally destroyed the point of an oyster especially these tiny ones. I asked for my beef rare and it came up medium. The accomplishments to our roost dinner were red cabbage and French beans. Where is the carrots, parsnips, cauliflower cheese, cabbage? At £25.00 it's just wasn't good enough. We paid over £200.00 for the three of us which I wouldn't mind if I felt it had been special. It wasn't. Finally we sat by very stained dirty net curtains. Why?

We visited on the recommendation of our friends, the other couple we were with. The ambience was good, the service attentive and the food. In the main, very good. My only disappointment was the Kentish Lamb mains. This was more fat than lamb. I realise that lamb can be a fatty meat but to have a single cutlet that hard hardly any meat was disappointing. My Hare stater was excellent as was my wife’s Salmon. She also said her mains, Hake, was excellent. My chocolate desert and her poached pear were also very good. We had a couple of cocktails that were also very good.

Chapter One never disappoints! The restaurant looks modern and welcoming with tasteful, seasonal decor. It’s really hard to choose what to have as everything on the menu is so tempting. To start we had a fig and goats cheese salad, mushroom veloute, sardines on sourdough with tsatziki and we shared Korean chicken bites. Mains of risotto, ceaser salad, burger and roast partridge were all super delicious. Great food, attentive service and lovely ambience. Highly recommend this local restaurant.
