Great food, and good value for money. A 3 course meal for 4 adults, one teenager and an 11yo, with drinks was £300. Food was delicious.

Firstly, I used to come to the Royal Oak many years ago as a child and was looking forward to enjoying the visit knowing it had been taken over by Vintage Inns. I have been to several Vintage Inns over the years and generally have a good experience. However, my visit to the Royal Oak was very disappointing. There were five of us dining, celebrating my mothers birthday.Three of us ordered the roast dinner and when the Gravy arrived, it was full of oil. I told the staff there was something wrong with the Gravy and they advised they had run out and so used the juices from the chicken. There was no chicken on the menu (we had Roast Turkey). I told my children not to have the Gravy but my wife did and she got sick later that night.I wanted the Steak but was advised by the staff that the steak was poor that day and I should avoid it. So I had the chicken pie instead, which was OK but not amazing. Finally when paying the bill, the staff gave us a code to submit a survey and asked if we could give a 5 star review as it would please the Manager. The venue is lovely but the food standards really let it down for us. I hope it improves.

Food excellent. Inside is very dark and poor lighting. No atmosphere. Service was functional at best by the landlady. Rude at points due to the way she delivered her message about us having a coffee and a pasty in our possession whilst also spending £80 on food and drink in the dining area. Everyone where we were sitting also looked at us when she was very curt and abrupt in speaking to us. Two tables turned and spoke to us about how rude this landlady or manager was. Last meal of the break in the local area and left a bad taste as the food was good.

Had a lovely dinner last night at this pub. It's a Beautiful venue with friendly staff, and the food was fantastic. 5 stars well deserved and we'll be coming back many more times!P.S. My wife really enjoyed the French Martini as well, it's rare to see it on a menu and rarer to see it made properly so special thanks to the bar staff for that one!

Highly recommend an evening at The Royal Oak. A French Martini was on the cocktail menu, which is one of my favourite drinks and can never find anywhere. It was made to perfection by the fabulous Danielle! More rounds were needed. The food service by Chrissie and Jon was spectacular, they made us feel welcomed, listened too and were very attentive to our needs, as I have recently had back surgery. The food was delicious, having the seared fillet of seabass with pea and crispy bacon voelutie, spring onion mash and steamed broccoli. It came to the table to the perfect temperature and one of the best seabass fillets I have had in a long time. Complements to the chef (Dave I believe)My partner had the pizza, which he adored, so my homemade pizzas I try to make have to compete with this (thanks) haha.We had lovely crumble for dessert, which delicious and brought back childhood memories. All in all a wonderful experience, we will be again soon! With additional guests.

We had a very relaxed and enjoyable meal at The Royal Oak. The staff were helpful, attentive and nothing was too much trouble, even offering to take a family group photo. The menu was varied and offered great choice. It was beautifully presented and all meals were delicious. The drinks menu was also extensive offering both alcohol and non alcoholic options. My request to sit by one of the fires was no problem and all the interior areas of the pub had charm and character. My only down comment would be to improve the exterior as it is looking tired and not particularly welcoming unlike the interior.

Staff were friendly, helpful and polite. Our cockapoo was made to feel welcome and water and dog biscuits was available at the entrance. The bar was lovely and cool (extremely hot outside). Food was very good and brought out quickly - perfect for an impromptu lunch

Food was great, especially the kids' meals because they came with a healthy bowl of raw veg (pepper, carrots, cucumbers) and garlic bread and the main meal. The atmosphere is nice too. The staff who served us that day was super friendly and helpful.

I went midweek lunch, and food and service were good. Being midweek lunch, it was quiet, which was fine by me. There was plenty of choice on the menu. I went for gammon egg and chips. Was just right. I was driving. Therefore, I didn't pay any attention to the ale selection, so I cannot comment on that.

My wife and I had a wonderful meal. My words were " doesn't get any better". We have only moved to the area recently and are trying all the local establishments. We dont have to try anymore. Service was excellent, decor is very nice and there was a large selection of beers. Our whole experience was great!Parking: Loads of parkin
