Booked a table online for 2 people, the only available time was for 9pm so I booked that. We arrived and were told they’ve closed the kitchen and therefor turned us away. Wish they had called to inform us of this so we didn’t waste time and could have planned to go elsewhere.
I’ve been coming to this restaurant for the past 2-3 years, and it’s always been one of my favorites. The food is usually excellent, and the staff are friendly and professional as always.
I went Friday, and while I still enjoyed my visit, especially the live opera performance, which was a lovely touch. A few things stood out. There was a man in a suit I hadn’t seen before who was talking very loudly and talking unprofessional. It was a bit distracting and took away from the peaceful atmosphere I’ve always appreciated here.
I also didn’t see the lady with blond hair who usually works there. She’s always so kind and welcoming, and I missed her presence.
It looks like the menu has recently changed. The food still tastes great(Beef Burger), but I would recommend not using the same side dish for every food.
It’s still a great place
Been coming here for years, and they’ve recently changed/reduced their menu. Still a top place to eat in Croydon, but standards have slipped. On both the lamb and chicken dishes, the sauces completely overpowered the meat (which was by itself good). Lots of the mains have the same side, which reduces the variety even more. On one dish there was boiled broccoli with no seasoning, something I wouldn’t expect from a restaurant. Overall will still go back, just a little less excited
Toilets used to be really weird with naked ladies painted everywhere, now they're boring.
Little Bay is an institution. Pretty much a waste of time reviewing it. It's a very safe bet for decent food at a decent price. It isn't the bargain it was many years ago, but at least it's still here.
This is our favourite restaurant in South Croydon, combining wonderfully quirky interior with good food at modest prices. We've been many times, but I've got to say, the previous visit, we thought the food had gone downhill a little and I'd rate it as 'ok ' whereas for the last 7 years I'd have said it was very good, maybe a change of chef? Or just an off day? Fingers crossed ?
Update: summer 2025:
Pleased to say, visited again, and Little Bay is back on top form, with a new menu, and the food was lovely.
Great food. Great service. Very reasonable prices.
Wonderful dining experience. Have been several times with my wife over the years and we've always been served with friendliness and efficiency. The food is delightful and the atmosphere is cosy.
Nice cozy restaurant with live music on Saturday evenings. The musician was really good (unfortunately we couldn't ask for his name). Good vegan food as well. Male sure to check their website for the menu as the ones in Google map can be outdated. Very professional and friendly staff.
I came here for a family members birthday and we were seated immediately in our group of 6. The food was really good and service also really good since the waiter was kind and accommodated my allergy requests without issue. I ordered king prawns for a starter and I do have to say they could have been a bit bigger or more quantity as there was only 5 or 6 served with salad but it was good. I ordered a steak and chips medium rare and it was perfectly cooked. The atmosphere was nice on the terraced seats and a couch/ bed you could lay on next to the table. But it was quite hot up there so it wouldn't be bad to get some ventilation. Overall really good place with good service, atmosphere and food, will come back. Starter and main was served within 20 minutes of ordering.
Really great decor and atmosphere in this little restaurant. The food is cheap and cheerful and there's a wonderful variety. The servers were polite, friendly and welcoming.

The food was really tasty and atmosphere was really good, the decor was fun and the night we went had a live musician.
Great food and service restaurant very quiet when we arrived the next people to arrive placed right next to us and spoke very loudly which was a bit irritating
Great experience, will definitely go again! Delicious food, friendly staff and I liked the decor. We went on a Sunday and it wasnt too busy so perfect for a nice meal. Set menus and A la carte ones are well priced and varied enough.
Very happy with our dinner at Little Bay. Cozy atmosphere, pretty and unique decoration, and I appreciate the musician that playing on the guitar the whole time I was there (Impressive!!)
Food is good. They are very generous with their portion, especially dessert.
Great food and atmosphere. Live singing was the cherry on top with absolute classics. Service was lovely and the food hit the spot. Will be back soon!
