The children ordered noodle's with chips and salad. They got a spoon of noodle with a couple of small pieces of chicken, a plate of chips with a sprinkle of salad costing £8 each. The lamb Dupiaza was nothing like it should be and full of big pieces of pepper and the balls of lamb seemed to be cooked separately and had little flavour. None of us were happy with our meals. The pilau rice was cooked nicely. I had my rice and had to wait a further 10 minutes for my Dupiaza to arrive. No fresh hot rice was given as I was told.

Booked for Christmas Day for a family meal, naturally being Christmas Day we dressed up a little, I wish we hadn’t, a pair of Bermuda shorts and a gravy stained sting vest would have been more fitting, to fit with the pubs decor and style, to mention nothing of the rest of the clientele. Sadly we were seated next to the bar, and treated to a loud speaker blaring Christmas music so loud none of us could talk to each other, the music after 30 minutes went off completely to further reduce the atmosphere, rather than just being background music. Total disorder and confusion from the staff saw our shocking poor starters arrive 45 minutes in, after we’d been asked if we were eating Indian or English 3 times, and if we were ready for our mains before we’d seen the starters (we’d preordered and paid a month earlier!). The mains came after we had to ask for them twice, 1.5 hours later, a very poor and cold dry turkey dinner that looked more like left overs. We decided we just had to get out of there after the mains, so asked for the deserts to be take away (the manager/waitress said “I don’t blame you”!). I’ll say noting of the deserts (Christmas pudding with Brady sauce) and let the attached photo do the talking! Never again… if you want any quality of food and nice place to eat, avoid this place… or expect a scene from shameless.

Just returned from our family Christmas Day meal. Totally feel robbed of £160. Waited 45 minutes for our cold starters to arrive that were preordered 4 weeks ago. There was so much confusion and disorganisation. 3 times we were asked if we were ready for our main course..we Hadn’t even had our starters! 4 smoked salmon & prawn parcels later..which wasn’t anything that resembled a parcel. It was just a few prawns covered in a slice of salmon with some Marie Rose sauce with some buttered bread. 40 minutes later our Mains finally arrived 4 roast turkey dinners. Minimal veg. 8 sprouts, 1 parsnip, blob of mash & mashed carrot, 1 pig no blanket..2 roast potatoes and a stuffing ball. Very disappointing, cold & bland. Didn’t want to stay for dessert so we got it to take away. 2 dry slithers of Christmas cake and 2 pieces of chocolate cake shoved into a takeout box. Really disappointed with the whole experience. Feel like we were the table in the bar that they forgot about. Won’t be recommending or returning.

Very nice indian food, the other day tried the English traditional mains and was very good. Today for the first time I ate indian food and loved it. I can't stand spicy food but this waiter was so nice and explained what to eat that is not spicy at all. Very relaxing ambiance and very helpful staff. Definitely I'll recommend it

We decided to try this ‘new’ Indian restaurant based inside the pub- we’re very disappointed with the quality and quantity of all of the dishes we tried. We had three chicken based mains and each portion had only 5 small pieces of chicken with bland sauce. Each of the containers (we had take away) we received containing our food was the small size foil trays and was half filled. A set meal for three wasn’t even enough food for two. Tasteless and cheap food was what we received so will not be returning- spend your hard earned money elsewhere

Three of us went for an Indian meal here and in two words can describe the service as 'organised chaos'. We sat a while before having to shout someone over to order drinks and when we did they didn't come back, so we did it again with another waiter and the same again happened. Eventually the manager came and asked us had we ordered drinks we told him and then he sent a waitress over. When ordering the food we only wanted one naan bread but he kept saying "no, two" in the end we got away with the one and carried on with our order. When our meals arrived the waiter came up to my left hand side and leant across me to serve my friend who was sat opposite to my right at the other end of the table to give her her meal, then leant right across me to serve my other friend to the right of me with her meal. He had all the room available to walk round each one of us to serve us properly. It was quite clear to see that the staff here have had no training as they have no idea what to do. When we came to pay they said the Internet had gone down so it was either cash or bank transfer. To be fair the food was nice but I think if this place is to be a success it has to up its game and sort out the staff.

Not been here for a while and sadly won't be rushing back. Father's Day lunch. Two of the meals were cold but burgers were okay when staff were told they did happily replace the chips and onion rings but burgers had been eaten by then. Sunday lunch was pretty mediocre although they were very good in catering for my 92 year old Dad with a smaller portion. We weren't in the conservatory but in the main dining area and decor and seating were pretty dire. Seating extremely old and tatty and the walls and ceiling were obviously very damp with a lot of brown stains and cracked paint. A little tlc would go a long way towards improving this

We went as a family to have a meal at 'Ye Old Red Lion'. We have visited before several years ago and, unfortunately, I have to say this pub has gone way downhill since. But first, a couple of nods to the positives.... Actually there's only really one - it's relatively cheap by today's standards. One course for £12.95, two courses for £15.95. So that's not too bad. But beyond that, the Red Lion is a tired, drab pub with a food offer that is no way near good enough to bail it out. The white walls have yellowed to beige, the damp has peeled the paint and plaster, and old water damage has left ominous dark rings across the ceiling. The bathroom is missing tiles. The floor is scuffed. The posters are sun-faded. The list goes on and makes for a really surreal and miserable vibe. The food came in good time, but was pretty low quality. My frozen onion rings and pre-cut chips were stone cold; the waitress did replace them when informed without much fuss, but without much apology either. When the table next to us asked for vinegar, the waitress simply came and took ours in silence, without asking. Our drinks order came twice for some reason, too. We didn't order two of everything, but two separate staff brought two separate rounds over - so perhaps the staff communication is a bit light too. The burger itself was of a decent size, and not unappetising, but nothing too special. I don't know what I was expecting, but even the meal looked a bit sad.... Maybe some side salad or a garnish could have people perked it up. I've uploaded a picture so you can decide for yourself.... It really feels like the Red Lion has just given up. A decent pub back in the day where all the love of running a pub has vanished. Maybe it'll improve again in years to come.

The place to look at is ok the décor also is ok and the menu is ok .but the meals are excellent we opted for the streak pie and the curry the meals took about the right amount of time to arrive . The steak pie you could tell was homemade and was very good ,The curry was also very good although there was a fair amount of sauce The service was also very good we will definably be retuning

Just off the A57. Our party went for a a leisurely Sunday lunch, which was just as well as the service was on the slow side although efficient and helpful when they appeared. Quite an extensive menu A door opening on to the car park was continually opening and closing, which became an irritation Main course.meats were better than the average vegetable side dishes. Desserts were enjoyable. Prices were OK.

Let down by our regular venue in the area who are now insistent upon pre-ordering of food for Groups of our size (something that we’re unable to do) we contacted Ye Olde Red Lion to enquire about whether they could accommodate a group of 18 cyclists for lunch. They were just brilliant! We visited on Saturday. The pub itself was quiet at that stage and we were greeted with a big smile from Abbie. Whilst people in our Group order separately and we’re happy for food to be served as and when individual orders are ready we were most impressed that the chef, Neal, managed to get all of the food out at the same time. I think that between us we covered a large part of the menu from light bites to what was an enormous mixed grill! The food was piping hot and whilst it’s usual for at least one person to have a gripe about their food when we visit luncheon venues everyone was delighted on this occasion with one commenting that his steak was cooked to perfection. We were there for 90 minutes before continuing our ride. We’ll definitely be returning later in the year - fabulous food and a very warm welcome. Plenty of space for bicycles too!

Took my mum for an unplanned bite to eat and couldn’t have been happier. The young lady that served us ‘abbie’ was helpful with menu choices and was quick and efficient, we were never left without a drink and the trip was made much easier with her help. Will definitely be back sooner rather than later! Thanks!!
