Ellie the bar is a gem. She treated me with a smile as she recognized My presence immediately I came in, she also served me the best coffee I have had in a while. She is professional and surely a value addition for the premises. Thank you Ellie I know it may be unusual for someone you have served only a coffee to recognize your ability and professionalism but hey, you deserve it. A big thank you

Went for Christmas Dinner was divine. I felt it was a bit lacking in customer service due to having to repeatedly leave my table to prompt my server. I left a tip. I'd of liked it to have gone to the chef so they would have been aware of how much I appreciated the meal, especially on Christmas day. Previously booked on Christmas with The Fairway, basic. Went to Toby's Carvery, awful. Top of the 3 Beefeater. ? ?

We had a booking at white gate on 28/12 /23 at5-30 we went in and nobody was about but one person I think is the manager, she was on a computer, I asked her if we could have a table, and she said do you have a booking, I replied yes, she said just wait there and went back to what she was doing, we waited at least 5 minutes and then two waitresses came up to her and started a conversation with her, then she went back on computer and the two girls went to walk past us into the front bar,I stopped one of them and explained we were waiting for a table, she took us to a table and took a drinks order from us,then we just sat and waited and seen that the place was completely understaffed,nobody came to take our food order they were just rushing about trying to serve people and they were annoyed, in the end we decided to leave so l told the waitress we were going as we had waited much too long and we had experienced this kind of thing the past two times we had been in,we offered to pay for our half drank beers but she said don’t bother and stormed off,this is is happening too often in the white gate, it used to be a nice place to eat with pleasant staff but it seems those times are over.

Had lunch here today 31st Dec, This is my local eatery and the food has always been excellent, had a tiny issue today and it was a tiny issue and the way it was dealt with was incredible, the lady who served us was so professional and went above and beyond to make sure we had an enjoyable experience.We couldn't ask for better service 10/10 , A great asset to the company,

Table for 16 to celebrate my daughters 21st birthday was booked around 3 months in advance to ensure they could cater for such a large party , the booking was confirmed by telephone on 5 occasions and in posh the day before the booking . Our party turned up 15 minutes before our 6.00pm booking and joined a queue of disgruntled would be diners who also had bookings …… around 6.30 we were advised that our table was being used by other diners becuase they had double booked No apologies or alternatives were offered , just a “what do you expect me to do about it” from the manager , or who I assume was the manager as that is who I asked to speak to I can’t leave a review of the food as we were never given to opportunity to order any , though going off what some who were “fortunate” enough time get a table the service was absolutely diabolical and the food not much better My family and myself have been regular diners at the Whitegate for many years but after doing their utmost to destroy my daughter’s 21st birthday that custom is now lost …… the Boat & Horses just up the road is much much much better

I go here quite often as it’s local for me, they have great offers & this time it was 33% off food. I went with my friend for a Xmas catch up, the food was very good, our server Callum is a very nice young man & the service was very good.

Ordered: Chargrilled King Prawn & Vegetable Skewer *17.99 Served with stone baked flatbread, chopped salad, fries. 40 minutes later, Received lukewarm, frozen over cooked PLAIN prawns served on a limp pizza style base. lukewarm under cooked limp fries! I guess this place must be rock bottom for chef skills and the price!! The 'manageress' was unapologetic and bordering on rude. No refund offered, advised me to Have a nice day!

My wife and I go out for a late lunch every week and this is our preferred restaurant. The staff are friendly and they make us feel really welcome. The food is very good and gives good value for money. Today we were served by Vicki who is always helpful and friendly. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

There is always a warm welcome from the staff. The menu has a wide range of dishes and the Christmas menu is now available. We were a party of 15 and we had preordered the food and everything was really good,no complaints. The staff were great,especially Vicki who is always friendly and very efficient.

The pub needs updating. On z cold evening I'd expect it to be a cosy warm place to be. It isn't. It's freezing cold. And only slightly less cold in restaurant. Shame because the food was good.
