Amazing food + service

Rosie

We experienced lovely food in a pleasant, relaxed restaurant, but the service from our waitress was dire, even though there were only 2 other tables occupied when we arrived! We were seated at 2.40pm and given menus by our waitress. Within 10 minutes, our waitress returned and asked if we would like water for the table and took our drinks order. We received our water quickly, but we waited another 15 minutes for our drinks (before losing patience and seeing other customers receiving their drinks orders) and in the end we went to the nearby bar and asked the friendly and helpful bar tender, who was unaware of the order and brought them to our table. Unfortunately, we spilt one of the drinks soon after they were brought, and again the friendly bar tender was straight over, cleaning our table and telling us it was no problem. Our waitress came over to see what was happening and the bar staff, asked if she could get another drink for me, whilst he was cleaning the floor. Our waitress simply disappeared and never got my drink and the bar tender noticed some time later and apologised, bringing me another drink, shortly after he had cleared up the spillage. At this point we had been waiting over 35 minutes and our waitress (who we observed wandering around looking bored, taking orders from customers who arrived after us and leaning on the reception area, talking to other staff) finally came over and took our food order. The food is cooked fresh, which we accept takes time (and was delicious) but the first food we received was 55 minutes after we were seated, which was very slow, considering the restaurant was practically empty. We also watched other customers (who arrived after us) receive their food before us. We did receive a prompt check back from our waitress, but our main course plates were left a further 15 minutes before clearing (even whilst our waitress was regularly passing our table and replacing place settings, where other customers had departed). When clearing our plates, we were asked if we would like any more drinks (the first time she had checked this) and when we declined, she was about to walk away, and we had to stop her and request to see the dessert menu.We were then left for over 10 more minutes before she came to take our dessert order (whilst we watched her again wandering looking bored and regularly passing our table with no check on us) and there was only one other table occupied in the restaurant at this point. We never received a checkback on our desserts and our waitress switched over at that point (to a much more engaging and personable, attentive staff member). We refused to pay the service charge, as our waitress was definitely not efficient, not engaging or attentive and prioritised setting tables or talking to other staff for long periods in a nearly empty restaurant, over serving waiting customers. We did tip the bartender who was very helpful and twice had to apologise and make up for our waitress’s poor service. What a shame that the service was so terrible, as the food was delicious.

We had a very enjoyable meal, with tasty dishes for adults and creative choices for children. The vegetables were cooked so well - crisp and delicious. Everyone ate everything. Also the Limoux Sauvignon Blanc was great too. I had an excellent risotto, and zingy rhubarb and lime crumble. 5 stars for the chefs! The service was friendly. The menu could really do with some lighter options and some brasserie classics like niçoise or Cesar salad would be good.

Nice French Restaurant in the hotel. Escargots were nice except there’s no taste in the snail. Fish soup was warm with bread(croutons), cheese and butter. Cheese soufflé came hot with cheese sauce and tasted really good. My mock tail had a lot of mint in it and not a lot of drink for the price because the kitchen decided to fill 60% of the cup with ice. No hot chocolate today. I had the steak frites and the steak, cooked medium was kinda okay (im not a meat guy). The server even asked if he wanted sauces and the MAYONNAISE CAME ?. The peppercorn sauce for the steak went really well as well as some herb butter.(tomato on the side don’t ask). In the crème bulee, you could only taste the sugar on top and not the egg.Vegetarian options: just eat meat at this point. very little V options here.Parking: At the car park just go and scan the QR code for 3 hours for free in the restaurant.

Fabulously attentive staff. Great selection of food. We love the Escargots, made with love and something, hard to find in Cheshire. Other favourites include the Moules Mariniere, Toulouse Sausage, the Lamb, and the Pork Ribeye. If you are vegan, they do cater for you too. The car park is free, but please make sure you register your vehicle.

We had breakfast here. It was disgusting, and except for the sausages, everything was cold. The so-called chilled orange juice was warmer than the beans and mushrooms. Bacon was like cardboard and eggs left out too long, cold and rubbery. The hotel refunded our money. The staff weren't attentive either. Not an experience we will repeat. We've booked to stay in the hotel again but won't be risking breakfast. I'd rather go to a bacon butty van in a lay by

Fab-u-lous! We have eaten the regular a la carte which is scrumptious but the last meal was Christmas lunch. Food was amazing (lots of courses, amuse bouche, palette refreshers) and service exceptional! Highly recommend.

We had lunch for my wife's birthday and what a treat. We were looked after from the moment we arrived to the time we left. The service was excellent without being intrusive and the food was superb, well presented, nice & hot and timely. The restaurant and kitchen team signed a menu for my wife to remind her off the day including Roberto Flamino (ex Liverpool FC fame) who was in the restaurant as well. Well done folks.

A wonderful meal. Everything cooked to perfection & service with a smile. Menu choices varied & we felt good value for the quality we received. We felt breakfast in the morning was a bit steep for self service but again food well cooked.

This was a first time visit and the meal was lovely. Me and my mum shared olives and the baguette with dips. Then we had a roast dinner and ice cream/sorbet selection for dessert. The staff were wonderful and made my mum feel very special on her birthday. Highly recommend and we would definitely go again??

Food is amazing as usual, tried the duck leg this time,it's very rich and delicious. The place has plenty of seats and not too busy when we visited. As they are inside the hotel, the parking spaces are shared with hotel customers, it is limited and can end up a bit away from the restaurant.
