Real quality food, prices slightly higher than your average chippy but you pay for what you get and the quality far surpasses the prices. Honestly this is the nicest chippy I've ever been to I just wish they opened a bit earlier

The food here is so good, makes other chippy food seem tasteless in comparison, especially the chips!

Wow, just wow. Since moving to Mcr from Leeds I must say I've struggled to find a 5* chippy. Thank goodness for chips @ no8. The best chippy around Mcr. Well deserved. Absolutely delicious.

I have eaten food from No.8 several times. However, last nights serving of chips was disappointing. I ordered a small portion of chips for £2.90, not cheap and expected more than one scoop of chips in a tray. I saw a young assistant approx. 17/18 years old scoop chips into a tray not realising they were mine. I thought maybe I had only seen the second scoop, but no. Very disappointing to find a half empty tray of chips when I got home. I have to say this is the first time this has happened. Perhaps the owner can speak with this assistant or at least observe what she is doing. All other food items were really good.

First time here and it didn't disappoint. The staff are lovely. The ordering system is very efficient and although it was busy I didn't feel I waited that long. I had haddock and chips. The chips were amazing and the fish was just right. Portion size was just right too. My son and partner had jumbo sausage which were really good. Also great mushy peas, tartare sauce and curry sauce.
Yet again great fish & chips, and the service spot on .

Top notch. Nothing else in the area comes close. Worth the wait and worth a special trip.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free fish

This is our no.1 choice for fish and chips. I rather have a very short wait that ensures, piping hot, freshly cooked fish & chips, than eating lukewarm food and limp chips. They were able to cook me a lightly battered fish and the portion size was very good. Mushy peas and tartare sauce were excellent too. Fantastic!
