Indian Restaurants in Manchester

“My family and I were looking for a spot for dinner near Manchester, when we came across Sangam in Didsbury. We went in expecting the least, as Jain food wasn't available elsewhere, and so was the case on Sangam's menu, BUT fortunately, we met Shahin, Sangam's chef, who was very accommodating and went off the menu to make Jain food for us which by the way was very good. I highly recommend visiting, and kudos to Sangam, notably Shahin, and TopCat [our waiter], their service was impeccable.”

“Really excellent food, huge selection and very reasonably priced. My sister pronounced the garlic naan the best she'd ever had.All the sizzling grill dishes were excellent. My Bombay Special Lamb was delicious, with plenty of tender, well-cooked lamb.Service was solicitous and courteous without pestering.A little gem of a place! Also excellent disabled access and facilities.Parking: Large free carpark - little bit uneven, watch your step! If you park close to the entrance, it's more level and gives better disabled access.Wheelchair accessibility: From the parking spaces nearest the entrance, excellent. Very helpful staff, level access to the bar and restaurant area, good disabled toilet with plenty of grab bars.”

“I honestly cannot stop talking about how delicious my TWO meals were here. Yes, I came twice in the same trip, lol. This is, hands down, the best Indian food I have ever eaten in my entire life, and I grew up in Southeast Asia. I was here for work, and we ventured here on our very first night -- you'll put your name down with the host, and then wait inline. I was surprised at the wait on a Sunday night, but after hearing all the buzz about Dishoom, we knew it was going to be worth it. In fact, I asked the host to make us a reservation for our very last night, because I had a hunch we would want to return (and I was right).Let me start by highlighting the service. My co-worker is celiac and they really took the time to explain what she could / couldn't eat and what possible cross contamination could occur. 5-stars for that, alone.I'd have to say that the top dishes I ate there, on both nights, was the broccoli salad, the daal, and the biryani. OH OH, and let's not forget the kulfi popsicle desserts. I tried the pistachio and the mango, both were excellent. You also should have their cocktails -- I particularly loved their whisky sour that was a blend of Indian and Japanese whisky (damn, it was so good). The roti was also sheer heaven. In short, you must make your way here, if you're in Manchester. And go twice, so you can get to sample as much of their menu as possible. Even better if you're a large group! They seriously should consider opening a location in NYC.”

“Unique and scrummy food, wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. We visited recently whilst visiting the area and were blown away by the street food menu which also incorporates regular Indian restaurant menu options. Everything we tried had a really fresh tang, they clearly know their spices and use the best of ingredients to create something delicious and tasty. Even the chutneys served with poppadoms (which can often be lacklustre) were different and appetising. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.”

“I went to ziya back in 2017 when i was visiting the UK. It had made an impression for the good quality and taste of the Indian food. Fast forward 2023, I told my husband about this place in Manchester and one Sunday we just randomly went there. It was a very good experience. The food was very well plated and tasted proper Indian. The atmosphere was vibrant and the tables and floors were clean. They have an open kitchen which i personally love because i can peep into the kitchen and monitor the cleanliness. They drinks were very good. Overall we did not regret driving and hour to go to Ziya. We would definitely go there again. Highly recommended.”
