Great to still see a traditional pub in Manchester serving great draught beers and ciders. Good atmosphere with a brilliant statue of Lowry sat at the bar! Will definitely be trying the food next time we visit.

Had tasty fish pies with two friends and even though the wait was about 45 minutes for food we were happy at this point. The bill came with our amount then a discretionary 10% added. We rounded the amount, including the tip, down by 97 pence to make it easier to divide into 3. We were then subjected (at our table) to accusations of not paying the right amount and when I pointed out that extra was discretionary, as printed on our bill and that we had paid the right amount and more, we were told that the staff would have to pay the extra 97 pence. All this infront of other diners. It left a very bad taste in the mouth and we won't be going again.

I need to eat a gluten free diet, so I was amazed seeing how much of the menu is labelled gluten free without asking to see a separate gf menu.... hot pot tasted so delicious and such a large portion with so much meat! I left feeling very satisfied will definitely eat here again.Vegetarian options: Mushroom WellingtonCheese pie and mashDietary restrictions: I have coeliac disease therefore need a gluten free diet and there were plenty of choices for me.

The best bar in Manchester.

We stumbled upon this place. And the gents coming out said it was great. traditional British food just done right. I had the fish cake starter, and the steak and kidney pudding OMG! Nice glass of cab franc to go with it. So 2 people, 2 glasses of wine, 2 starters, and 2 main courses came in at 76gbp. Gratuity was added to that. I would go back in a heartbeat when I am next back in manchester

Booked last minute, turned up and seemed to be a problem finding my booking which seemed to cause Nikki the server some issue finding a table from the numerous empty tables and seemed to think it was our problem and then wasn't particularly polite when showing us to the table. The male server was fine and polite. Ordered medium steak, but came rare. To top it off she added 10% service charge to our bill which I asked her to remove. Our first time and probably our last.

Very good traditional English food.

Flic decided to pop into this lovely pub set just off Cross St. First visit in a few years. It is a gem of a JW Lees pub with 4 real ales. Famous as the watering hole of artist LS Lowry..he permanently sits at the bar! A steep entrance leads down to a large two room pub, one dedicated to dining, the other for drinks although you can eat there. Lovely ambience. Super old stone fireplace. Have eaten here in the past. The corn beef hash is legendary.

The food was amazing! Brown onion soup was full of flavor. Chips were crisp and salted nicely. Steak was cooked perfectly, tender, and the added bbq flavor was a nice addition.

Wonderful little place, the service staff were also very pleasant but the quantity/quality of the food wasn't as solid as the prices would make you

Good food and a nice place to eat with a balanced atmosphere. Service on the night was not the best. Waiting staff were pleasant but not very attentive. Not asked for drinks , had to ask for plates to be removed after 40 mins. Birthday cake was asked for several times before it arrived. Waiter then disappeared and didn't return with plates or cutlery.
