Booked table for 1.30 the restaurant doors were still locked on arrival. Had to go and ask how to get in finally got into an empty restaurant and waited over 10 minutes before a member of staff finally arrived. Was unapologetic hushed us to a table while she went to find keys for the door where other diners were stood outside waiting. Another 10 minutes for a waiter who gave us a light lunch Menu. We had booked for the fully advertised 2 course Sunday lunch. Asked the waiter if Sunday lunch was on, and they had to enquire in the kitchen. Who then offered chicken and said the full roast advertised was not available as they had not ordered any good due to having no bookings up front. They had only received bookings today. Obviously we had little hope for a decent meal as the staff were so unprofessional and unenthusiastic. We left and had a fab carvery meal down the road. Definitely do not recommend. Complete waste of time!

Just experienced a Sunday dinner at PerryZito restaurant which is inside Smokies Hotel, what a disappointment. I chose the two course meal, vegetable soup starter was so over seasoned with pepper it was really unpleasant. The main was Pork Sunday lunch and it reminded me of a school dinner unfortunately. Very bland, Pork was tasteless, veg was watery and the few potatoes on my plate were completely tasteless. So disappointed, looks like the hotel is purely kept open now by weddings and weekend parties judging by all the empty gas canisters in the car park and discarded wine glasses and bottles of beer. Not recommended and I will not be returning, there are just too many nicer places to go to.

1 star is a compliment to this place. Where do I start, when we arrived we were stood at the entrance for 15 minutes before a member of staff came into the restaurant a d that was only to bring food to the only other table on there. When she eventually came over she said sit anywhere so we wemt and sat down and she went over to the bar where another member of staff was talking to her for about 5-10 minutes. We had no menus or drinks menus amd no one had come over, then the 2 staff just walk into the back kitchen after about 10 minutes, so we just stood up and left. The other table in there stated as we walked out “they’re shocking in here”. Even the manager, when we went to reception to let them know how shocking it was, was no help just kinda stared at me as I was telling him and said sorry. Never In my life have I or my partner received such awful service (both work in restaurants ourselves). With it being valentines night at 7.30pm we thought the night was ruined as we had to try get a table in Manchester somewhere, we stayed at the hotel too which was alright but we will definitely never be coming back to either of these places again.

Just celebrated son's birthday the service was excellent all of the family thoroughly enjoyed it. Food and drink good quality, well presented, relaxing ambience even with 4 young children. We had a lovely stay on bed and breakfast and evening meal. The food was excellent, we had the steak and trimmings, followed by dessert. We have to mention Miguel who really looked after us and went out of his to make us feel relaxed on our Wedding Anniversary. The hotel staff were very accommodating and the hotel was very clean and very organised. Our room was lovely and spacious and would definitely recommend the restaurant and hotel for great food and to stay.

After a few great visits we have given great reviews about smokies in the past, we even got married there and everything was fantasti, we decided to go on the eat out to help out scheme. Disappointed isn't the word, didn't feel covid safe, the guy who served us brought drinks wearing mask then started touching his mask as he walked off. The lady at table next to us left but no one came and cleaned table. We both ordered the Ribeye steaks, they were tiny, it came with a basket of frozen chips, one tiny stalkless mushroom and half a tomato. It tasted OK but it felt like they had halved the portion sizes to reflect the scheme. My husband had a shandy and I had vodka lemonade, both seemed very weak. It cost 32.75 after the discount. I can't imagine anyone paying £52.75 for what we just had, it was a total rip off. It was a limited menu, but on the menu we found on line it had the Ribeye we ordered and it was advertised as 10oz and was same price so that's what we expected. I'd say it was 4-5 oz as when I order 8oz I can only finish half of it but I finished all this apart from all the fat I left on my plate. Last week 4 of us went to summit in Royton, all had steaks, pints of coke and one of us had vodka lemonade and it cost £29 for four of us, portion sizes were a lot better, and totally covid safe. Sorry smokies but we won't be coming back anytime soon.

Went to the wedding fayre. Lovely staff very helpful. Saw people having bar food looked delicious, was sorely tempted to tuck in.Very relaxed atmosphere, guests sitting around, TVs on but not to loud creating calm and quiet mood.

Had a complimentary Sunday carvery today as compensation for a family members inconvenience 2 week ago. I was really looking forward to it but was so disappointed. Over cooked & tepid food. Bar staff amiss in the lounge bar afterwards. Btw I left 95% on my plate & would have asked for a refund if I had to pay.

Went to an anniversary ball which was amazing but despite placing special requirements for food and I was the only vegetarian and diabetic at the table, the staff kept confusing the order. As a diabetic they were told no cheese, assured something would be in its place but received the cheese dish like everybody else.The place itself, from what i saw on this night seemed fine (didn't get to view much of it, other than the function room and bathroom facilities) and willow wood made it such a memorable night.
