This place is a treasure and a go to when visiting the UK, and Manchester.

I visited The Dolphin for the first time on Good Friday 2024 after hearing good things about their gluten-free fish and chips, located in the Reddish area of Stockport on Gorton Road. They offer delivery via UberEATS in the local area, although I decided to pick up on this occasion. With it being Good Friday, they were VERY busy with the queue going all the way outside, the staff were visibly stressed and struggling with the demand and I think service did suffer as a whole, I found one staff member in particular to be rather rude and aggressive, although I won't hold it against her as the working environment looked so stressful - half a dozen staff members in such a tiny area dealing with a queue that kept growing and growing. They did however get food out reasonably quickly after ordering, especially as they had to use a separate frier for my food with it being gluten-free. I ordered a gluten-free cod and chips, with curry and sausage, I found it to be rather expensive, costing over £14, which is much more than I'd usually pay at alternative chippies. I wasn't asked about salt/vinegar on my food, so it was unseasoned, I didn't realise by the time I sat down in the car ready to eat - not willing to brace the crowds and queues to request some salt, I decided to do without. The portion size was a little small, but I was pleased with the food overall. The batter was crispy and the fish was of good quality, the chips weren't great at all, they needed some salt and a bit more. My sausage again tasted good, but was one of the smallest I've had from a chippy. One of the main positives was despite that being extremely busy and in such a stressful environment, they maintained a good standard of food quality, while some things went wrong such as forgetting salt, one staff member, in particular, appeared to be abrupt and rude, portion size and pricing compared to similar chippies, I would return. 4*

First time ordering from here. I tried the cod with large chips & peas. The fish is of a medium size however the batter is quite thin & not all that crunchy, it was also pretty greasy & so were the chips. The peas were ok. Everything was wrapped separate with the chips in a polystyrene container. I was expecting it to all be in a cardboard box as per the pics. Overall id say its pretty average. Delivery was on time & the fee via Uber is cheap at 0.29p but with a service charge of £2.14.Cod £7.50Large Peas £2.20Large Chips £4.50

We went last night( admittedly we only go now and again, once every month or so) and for about the third time I asked for cod and was given haddock, part of which was overcooked, chips were okay will be a long time before we go again, very disappointed.

We asked for Cod and were given what we believe was Haddock. If it was in fact Cod , it was overccoked, chewy and tasteless. We paid £21 for two portions of 'Cod' chips and peas and although the portion sizes were good, the fish was absolutely awful. This used to be one of the best chippies in the area but now it has to be one of the worst ans very overpriced. AVOID !!!
