Just had Christmas lunch here with our church family. I can honestly say it's the best one I've had for years. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were polite and helpful. Will certainly be revisiting and can highly recommend it.

Fabulous food at the wheel restaurant ? I went with my mum and sister and had a great meal. It was a shame that there weren't many tables in dining, as these young students need the experience of a full restaurant. They are open Tuesday and Thursday for lunch at 12,12:15,12:30, and the same days but for the evening at 6 pm, 6:15,6:30. We arranged a table on the day so they do take in last min bookings and the drinks prices are excellent ?Highly recommend the fish n chips ? the fish was the best fish n chips I've ever had, the batter was lovely and light, and the home-made tarter sauce was excellent only thing missing was some mushy peas but the veg that we had to share between us was excellent and could have fed another 4 people, we had carrots, new potatoes, green beans with a ragu sauce and another portion of chips. Honestly, I can't recommend this place enough, and for the price of £17.95 ( for the evening/dinner menu), we all left completely stuffed. we also had a cup of tea at the end and a homemade biscuit ?Parking: At the evening you can park right next to the college. In the day I would recommend parking near the Royal mail across the road near the bus station as the car park is for staff.

We attended the Chinese New Year set meal where the students prepare, cook and serve the meals. The food was excellent and the service was brilliant. We loved our meal so much have booked another evening there.

The Wheel restaurant – Wigan & Leigh College is class. This restaurant is the perfect way for any inspiring young people who might be thinking of getting into the catering business. The Wheel is 99% run by the students who train there, from chefs to silver service to bar service, they control most of it except of course with the help of the very experienced staff just to oversee. We went for our Christmas day dinner and it was delicious. These young students did themselves incredible proud. The meal from starters to dessert where cooked to perfection and very well presented. The young students kept coming to our table to see if we were happy and we could tell a few of them seemed nervous but they didn’t need to be, as the very experienced staff were on hand who had done an amazing job with these young students.Even at the end of sitting they chefs came out of kitchen to see us, explained which part they prepared, cooked, presentation etc etc was very endearing and lovely to seeThe restaurant is very simple nothing fancy, but this is a place of teaching and all funds The Wheel gets get pumped into maintaining the restaurant and the college, so don’t go thinking is a swanky place it’s not, but as long as you have a good time with friends and family, the meal is perfect then who cares to be honest. They have limited seating and opening times so always check on their website and pre-book…you will not be disappointed and at the same time helping our future generation.

We’re sat here now having Christmas dinner. Couldn’t fault a thing. Excellent service, the students are a credit to the college. All 6 of us had a variety of starters, mains and desserts. All perfect and fantastic value for money.

Young people starting out training and full of enthusiasm eager to please great food reasonably priced what's not to like. It's a training venue so it is what it is.

Live fairly locally, so with the sun out today decided to pop in for a spot of lunch and a few drinks. First off, they have done a great job with the beer garden and when the sun shines, it's an awesome place to have a bite to eat. The young lady behind the bar (blonde hair and glasses) , who took our order, was simply outstanding. Super friendly and very helpful - probably the best waitress I've encountered anywhere. The food was good, portion sizes decent too. Kids portions were generous and both my son and daughter who usually moan that the kids meals are too small, left very satisfied. My oldest daughter had the cod sandwich and said it was very tasty. I had the steak, onion and blue cheese sandwich and can recommend it. My wife opted for the salt and pepper fish goujon starter and some fries - I tasted them and they were excellent. Can't wait until they do the pizza's in the beer garden again, because I'll certainly be back for them - they were mega tasty. One small comment - it would be good if they offered a single burger on the menu. Currently they only offer a double burger.
