If you are happy with a tapas and small plates dining-style then you should like the Kitchen at Primrose Hill Farm. The location, style and ambiance could easily outshine the food but it didn't. We throughly enjoyed our first lunch visit and will be returning. Fabulous food, great service - well done team.

Just to be clear The Kitchen isn't at Farnborough at the moment but at Primrose Hill Farm in tiny Arlescote. This is a lovely venue purpose built in barn style with stupendous uninterrupted views of Warwickshire. The pop up dining is between weddings and other events. Now to the food - so nice not to see the ubiquitous something and chips or burgers, but some really different dishes. This isn't tapas for purists as there are influences from many different cuisines (Thai, middle Eastern, Moroccan etc). All the tapas and 'small plates'were delicious, we particularly liked the roasted carrots with cumin served on lebnah, The Seville orange Panna cotta with yuzu sorbet was sublime. This isn't a cheap place to eat (£100 for 2); but you wouldn't expect it to be with the standard of food and attentive service. A real treat.

After a disappointing visit in the summer, Jo the owner got in touch to apologise and invited us to return, which we did yesterday. Thankfully this time we can report everything was great. The food is always lovely but the service was spot on and back to what we had expected and we were very well looked-after. Thank you to Jo and her team for making us feel welcome again. It is a gorgeous venue for their pop up (although we look forward to you being back at the pub in Farnborough).

We like The Inn @Farnborough so when our friends suggested we book the pop up Kitchen here, we jumped at it.what a perfect location, the atmosphere was great, light, airy and loved the DJ outside. Shame we couldn't hear him from inside, that would have been fab. Food was delicious, well presented etc. We had roast beef, lamb and the special. My only slight nark was the price of the Meze £15 for 3 bowls and some bread sticks? We loved it and will be back

Having decided to come away for the weekend we searched a couple of restaurants to eat at locally to our hotel in Banbury. We arrived at the kitchen and found that we were in an amazing barn ! The welcome was fantastic and there was a great buzz . The interior of the barn is modern and trendy, we had a table at the huge windows with a view over the countryside. The menu was lovely, nice selection and when the food arrived it was superb. The service was attentive and all diners appeared to be enjoying themselves. The layout of the barn and outdoor area is very stylish and great cocktails on offer too! If we are in the area again we would not hesitate to come back and also recommend to friends.

We ate here at the primrose pop up on Friday. We had good food overall but my starter was cross contaminated (non gluten free bread in two out of three of the dips). And despite checking gluten free desert options, the one I had the plate was quite literally sprinkled with gluten (some sort of crumbled biscuits). Thinking best to just double check - the waiter came and took my plate away replacing it with another one commenting ‘they shouldn’t have put that on there’. No apologies at all considering he put it down in front of me with the gluten on and we had had the same waiter all meal. If you’re Coelaic be careful!

On my first visit my sister ordered a pizza cheese free but unfortunately it arrived with cheese, however an apology followed and it was taken off the bill. Second visit booking for two adults and one child aged two with a dairy allergy which I noted at time of booking. On arrival this was explained again with very little support and we were told they don’t provide a children’s menu! Are you discouraging those with children? A great location but as a previous reviewer mentioned a tad of arrogance by the two owners. Thankfully we received far better service from those serving inside the shop. No vegan options and very little for vegetarians. Disappointing.

The owners have really pulled out all the stops to try to overcome the restrictions Covid-19 has thrown in their path. First, they built a brilliant new outdoor eating area at their original venue in Farnbourough. Then, when winter beckoned, they relocated to Primrose Hill farm and took over the barn which is used for events. We've eaten a cuple of tmes inthe barn, but then along comes HMG andscuppers the plans of Ant and Jo. Lockdown two followed by teir 3 restrictions. So, thinking caps on, the dynamic duo turn their hand to teakeaway food. We've had several Friday night offerings now, but yesterday we had the Sunday roast. The portion size was immense and the food amazing. Hats off to this couple and their team who are doing everything they can to survive in these ridiculous times. We will be back for more and can't wait until we can sit down and dine again, either at Primrose Hill Farm or at the Kictehn in Farnborough. These guys deserve your support. Not for charitable purposes but because, despite plans being scuppered at every turn, they still manage to stay upbeat and turn out amazing food.

Having passed the sign outside saying pop up restaurant, shop, etc we decided to go and have a look. This being a Saturday Not knowing what to expect we were really impressed by the buildings and presentation. Upon entering the door we were approached by a waiter who it turned was the owner. We explained that we had popped in to see what was on offer. Well it was like trying to extract blood from a stone, we really should have known. Eventually he did offer up information and as the venue was extremely attractive we decided to have a coffee and a hot chocolate, both fine. Whilst having our drinks we enquired of a female waitress if the restaurant did a Sunday roast. She confirmed they did. A little reticent we duly booked for 3 pm the next day a table for 3 persons. On the Sunday we arrived and were shown to a table set for 3 by the owner and we apologised that only 2 could make it. The extra place seating was begrudgingly removed. The change from 3 to 2 had not caused any rearrangement of table placement etc. As we were taking our seats the owner stated we have run out of Beef, no apology, nothing. My wife and I sat down and studied the menu. Having studied the menu to see that on offer was pizza, a salad, hake with rice and pasta. I beckoned to the owner and asked was there any replacement for the Sunday roast as there was no similar type dishes on the menu. The owners reply was gobsmacking. No there was no replacement/substitute, no apology and if we didn't like we were free to walk. Not wishing to outstay our 'welcome' we duly 'walked'. So we have a restaurant at 3pm on a Sunday running out of roast, the reason we booked, offering no apology , no appropriate replacement displaying a truely unbelievable attitude from the owner. As we left there were numerous other parties arriving, I hope they didn't require a roast on a Sunday. I can live with stock shortages, but there are ways of dealing with a situation. What I cannot live with is an arrogant attitude from owners to their guests. This I cannot overlook. You might say a bad day at the office, but we experienced the same attitude 2 days running, there will not be a third. As it happens we are local and may have considered this location for our daughters wedding, absolutely not now. If the owner is interested we did get a Sunday roast at a nice pub/restaurant just up the road and yes they were busy.

Absolutely brilliant night in Primrose Farm venue. 2nd visit to this pop up. Started off with cocktails. The steak, hake, and mushroom pappardelle were faultless. Puddings superb too. Live DJ provided a superb backing. Lured into another after dinner cocktail. Couldn’t fault the whole evening. Everyone had a great time. Will be back in December

Wow quite simply the best Roast Beef lunch I have ever eaten! Anthony and Jo have moved to Primrose Hill Farm so we couldn’t wait to try it out. It didn’t disappoint, what a wonderful venue, nice and airy and super clean in these days of Covid. The food was amazing and the service as friendly as ever. We shall definitely be back. The Kitchen have relocated to the spacious Primrose Hill Farm for the winter and we booked in the Sunday lunch. The new location is superb and the owners have taken every precaution to make it as secure and safe as possible. The location is fantastic with great views from the panoramic windows. The food was as excellent as ever , great roast beef with all the trimmings and top class Yorkshire puddings. Service was friendly and efficient with plenty of staff on hand. Well done to all involved.

Visited today for lunch with my partner. We didn't have high hopes of getting a table as we had not booked and thought this would be a problem given Covid restrictions. The two lovely ladies behind the bar made us feel very welcome and reassured us we could get a table for lunch after our walk with no trouble! An hour later, having enjoyed a great walk around Farnborough estate, we were showed to a clean corner table, where both of us ordered the field mushrooms on toasted sourdough. Portions were very generous, well presented and everything tasted super fresh. We both felt the garlic in the homemade pesto was perhaps a little overpowering (and we love garlic, as a French household!) but that is all down to personal preference and certainly did not affect our enjoyment of the meal. My only suggestion would be to offer steak knives with this dish; the vintage cutlery is lovely but the knives were like butter knives and couldn't cut the bread properly! We didn't ask for different knives as by then, the room was filling up and the two waitresses were busy seating new diners. We noted what a great job they did as everyone seemed to turn up at the same time! We understand the business is moving, and will certainly look forward to visiting again at the new location. Overall a great pub, with tasty food and very good service. I wish them well in their new venue.
