Having visited Marle before I was excited to be bringing my husband for his birthday lunch. Sadly, after the experience yesterday I won’t return. We were seated in Marle restaurant and shown the set Sunday lunch menu. As it was a main course of duck leg we asked for a different menu option as the set menu did nothing for us at all. The Manager came over and advised another menu with pasta, sandwiches etc was available and though this wasn’t the fine dining experience I was hoping for we needed to eat. BUT what I didn’t realise was to have this other menu we had to be seated in the “sitting room” and not the restaurant, so we were moved. The “sitting room” is actually the lobby area of the restaurant building so we had guests arriving with cases, bags and their dogs, as they were shown to the bedrooms. We also had cleaning staff and maintenance staff pass us with a fold away bed!! To top it all off the food was average and the pasta dish absolutely tiny. Thankfully my husband laughed at the shambles of the experience and thankfully we had a better experience and service the day before at another location. Definitely not 5 star in food quality or overall experience.

Absolutely wonderful - everything was perfect! We were made to feel so welcome from the minute we arrived at Heckfield Place. Our room and the gardens were beautiful and the restaurant was excellent.

Not sure why this is supposed to be so good. It was very disappointing with below average service and food. Not sure why they accept bookings for lunch from non residents as we were made to feel very unwelcome, and taken to a room with no room for us to sit down until a charming couple offered to move for us. The warm chicken and potato salad main course with luke warm green beans was very underwhelming. We will not be going back.

What a wonderful experience! My wife and I plus 2 dogs stayed for 2 nights for a special occasion. The experience from arriving to departing was exceptional. The hotel is so elegant and beautifully maintained. The spa is something else! A true county haven with lovely walks through woodlands and heather meadows and Great Lakes to swim in. Recommend ordering a picnic for a relaxing afternoon as they thought of everything. The restaurants are also at a different level.

Great for a couples escape - food was very good and highlight was definitely the spa. It’s just been done and was beautiful and so relaxing. Loved the jacuzzi in the field and the pool! Would definitely come back. We stayed here the night before our wedding and had a really lovely time. Very close to London and easy to drive to

stayed 2 days at Heckfield place but it felt like much more. Thanks to the luxuriant nature and the immersive experiences offered by the hotel which invite guests to explore and experience the nature to recover balance and well-being. The service is very efficient. The spa is a retreat of peace and refreshment. The products that were suggested to me by the consultant are really high quality and adapt to my skin. As for the food, the Hearth restaurant is very good, whilst the Marle is of course a good idea, and the place is really nice, but some dishes and the timing of the service need to be improved

I was looking for a beautiful place with wonderful service and food not too far from Heathrow our last 2 nights of a 5 week UK visit that included 5 English country manor yourself and gardens. I was over the moon happy we found this gorgeous place with such beautiful rooms - suite really - on such a fabulous property with an emphasis on sustainability and biodiversity. We loved the farm and arboretum tours by passionate , knowledgeable people , the AMAZINg spa - I meant bothy :) - accessed through an incredible walled garden with an incredible infinity pool overlooking a beautiful meadow. And we loved that they confiscated our phones! ?. I had one of the best massages of my life (thank you Tamas!) and loved my cocktail class (than you Ethan! I am still savoring my lemon verbena infusion!) I really really want to do the foraging experience!!!! Very special place - I can’t wait to go back someday!!!

Our second visit to Heckfield Place and it goes without saying that this is a spectacular property, everything is beautifully curated from the artwork to the decor to the food. The grounds are spectacularly beautiful. I agree however with the reviewer who remarked on the service at Heckfield being a little awkward, not bad just awkward. There was a strange exchange on check in and we were asked at least a dozen times during our one night stay regarding our dietary requirements to the point it became a little bit of an irritation. The Bothy Spa was a new addition since our previous visit, a spectacular space, probably one of the best country hotel spas I have seen in terms of architecture. The treatments were a little overpriced we felt (and we are regular spa goers) so we didn’t partake in any but we did use the pool and sauna / hot tub. We were a little baffled by the rigmarole at the spa check in (shoes into bags, tagging and exchange for slippers which all took time at entry) and then another check in layer downstairs which involved the confiscation of electronic devices which seemed a little heavy handed. The reference to the pool as “the waters” also seemed a little pretentious. We asked if the glass doors could be pushed back due to the humidity in the pool area and were told it might affect the ph balance of “the waters”. All a little strange. The whole atmosphere in the spa was slightly other worldly. These issues aside we had a relaxing weekend stay. As a final point it would be nice if the hotel could consider a 12pm checkout for the exceptionally high price point 11am seemed early when we only gained access to our room at 3pm the day prior.

Heckfield Place was recommended by our travel agent as a base for our trip to Royal Ascot The 80% This a stunning property located on a wonderful estate. A warm welcome greeted us, followed by a quick tour of the building, all whilst our car was parked and luggage magically being transferred to our room. Only staying for 2 nights we opted for a ‘Guest Room’ and it was more like a suite. Very generous in size, big bathroom, well stocked fridge & cabinet and very tastefully designed, we picked up a few interior design ideas for home! We arrived late afternoon and made it in time for some tea and cake on the terrace. We had dinner at Marle on our second night with a friend who joined us and we had a fantastic evening dining outside. Excellent food, wonderful cocktails and a very relaxed setting. In terms of the level of service and hospitality from the staff at Heckfield, this is probably the best we have encountered. Everyone was warm, welcoming, dare I say charming, and that atmosphere they effortlessly create made you feel right at home. The 20% We had been communicating via email ahead of our stay to arrange a picnic for our visit to Royal Ascot. We asked could it made up for 3 people and requested a few extra’s which was all agreed. When we opened it up, there was no sign of the extra’s we had ordered and it only contained 2 sandwiches with all of the portions appearing to be for two persons so it left us all a bit light for our picnic unfortunately. It hardly made for a great impression when you are hosting a client. When we book through our travel agent it comes with a few perks such as a room upgrade (if available) $100/£80 credit etc. usually at similar standard of properties or higher this is acknowledged on arrival. Quite often if an upgrade can’t be accommodated they usually assign you a bigger room in your category or a little something in the room if not, but all of this was not picked up and no credit appeared on the invoice upon check-out. Like a few other grumbles we have noticed the hotel charges a service charge % on the ROOM rate. Naturally we are more than happy to do so on all food/drink/service but on the room? It left a sour taste. If the room should be valued higher we would rather that be the case. On the whole, we very much enjoyed our time at Heckfield and may look to return next summer for the Races. We would like to pass on our heartfelt thanks to everyone at the hotel. Simon & Emma

We had lunch at the restaurant. Everything was great except for the meal itself. Maybe we caught them on an off day. Most of us ordered lamb. One of us was served veal cutlets that resembled the lamb. She didn’t want to delay the lunch party so said nothing about it but regretted doing so because the consistency of the veal was mushy as if it had been frozen too long. She had only a few bites. The lamb was described as local but was a bit superannuated I think, because it is a bit tough, even though all the other lamb we were getting that time of year was great. Also I just have a really good, they were vegetables from the estate. The staff could not have been more welcoming. They gave us a tour of the hotel which looks like it has been remarkably restored and decorated.

I don’t know where to start, but a good place might be to say this is the best hotel I have ever stayed in. Planning my husbands birthday during Ramadan was difficult enough due to being limited by not being able to eat and drink. I decided to book Heckfield Place for many reasons. 1 being It was conveniently only twenty minutes from where we live, 2 we both wanted a relaxing country side stay with gorgeous views and 3 the reviews. On booking my stay I reached out to Heckfield place to ask if breakfast at sunrise could be arranged. This has always been an issue in other hotels I have previously booked but for Heckfield this was not a problem. On arriving we were thrilled to find out that they had a breakfast menu for us which also included hot food. My husband was served breakfast at 4.30am - exceptional service. From the minute you arrive you are made to feel welcome and special. The grounds and hotel are stunning and have a homely atmosphere. The staff are kind, extremely attentive, always smiling and very accommodating. Our bedroom had a happy birthday banner and birthday cake which was lovely. The new Bothy Spa is amazing, indoor pool temperature was perfect and outdoor jacuzzi had amazing views. We had the friends room which is one of the smaller sized rooms, but I was so impressed with the layout, big bathroom outside of the bedroom with a really spacious shower. The mini bar and fridge is stocked with produce from the hotel which includes sweet and savoury snacks, bottled water and delicious fresh milk -everything in this is free of charge. Will be returning later this year as we have fallen in love!

This is the best hotel in the United Kingdom. We have been to many country hotels over the years and this is our new favourite. We have already had family and friends stay / book the hotel following our visit. Highlights: 1. The most beautiful, comfy, and well thought out rooms with unique art/decoration in each. 2. Very unique restaurants in Hearth and Marle. We were lucky enough to have lunch at Hearth (had previously been just dinner). Food service and ambience amazing 3. Brilliant estate tours - really gets you connected to the exceptional hotel & grounds. 4. Brilliant reception staff - manager very responsive and thoughtful on email follow up& clearly really cares about delivering best in class experience for guests (Kevin). 5. The afternoon tea is a very classy and delicious touch. We have booked to come back already. 11/10.

General - Really luxurious, grand and cool. So much space and not too busy. The decor is wonderful. Had our wedding anniversary there with work vouchers for guest room, breakfast, 3 course meal in Marle restaurant, and £500 monetary voucher for spa etc. Food - So we had this voucher for a Marle 3 course dinner, and breakfast inc. in room rate. Really excellent, we had T-bone to share with Chumcurri sauce. The white beans on side were al dente, unremarkable but felt healthy and just needed a little direction.. the truffle roasties were really crunchy and had a rustic charred look, as was the bacon for breakfast the next morning. I loved that. Then they had a torte type thing with espresso salted caramel sauce. Absolutely perfect. Morning eggs creamy and gorgeous, Excellent gluten free sourdough (that is HARD to get right) and lovely butter. Wow factor was zingy beetroot juice. Leek starter I think? luscious and dappled with herbs. Accommodation - we had a Guest room for the night, £650 usually. Really big and cosy. Everything tip top and faultless. Great TV too. Have to make your own tea bags in the room with little bags and loose tea. Bathroom products simple and lovely and abundant in large pumps. Great stuff in mini bar - cider, beer, milk, biscuits and nuts. All felt like they had been made and brewed onsite. Wish I had time to read the books on hand. Berger, Rousseau etc. Grounds / house - Walled garden huge and wonderful. So many varieties and tulips on verge of release, and the French gardener really helpful. there's better places to walk in Surrey/Hants as such I guess, but if you are from London it'll be nice change. More of a brief walk with other guests right in front or behind you. Mucky lakes with steeper ferned areas a little like Wakehurst, and some impressive old gnarly trees. Big fields.. Lots of daffs. Brief woodland stretch. All communal rooms huge and no expense spared. Room to relax in the grandeur. signage could be larger. Service - The voucher thing they have not quite nailed yet. Should have been seamless as someone has still paid for it. Confusion of conflicting info was corrected day before arrival though so stress abated. Arrived to slightly awkward but sweet introduction to the art in the reception area, felt like a timed distraction of sorts. Would have liked to have heard or seen a brief history to the house which must be really interesting. Others have said the staff uniforms are weird, I liked it in a Belgos meets Ewok kind of way. None of the staff seemed very confident. It all seemed a bit unsure and awkward with us throughout. Had tea and great GF cake and read papers in splendid lounge with babies and dogs around, took a while to get cake and tea but was lovely. Evening cocktail waiters great and just as they should be, cool sociable guys. Made us both a fabulous Old Fashioned and some form of savoury gin thing. Bar is classic glam small side room, Beaverbrook type haunt. Had our anniversary there and brought our own Bolly luckily, and had thought they'd put some chocolates or some such in our room knowing it was a wedding anniversary, they said they were looking forward to spoiling us for this occasion. Service at dinner and breakfast great. Had a later checkout after 90 min spa treatments which was brill. So the point of getting vouchers for all this is so you don't have to pay right. It's a treat. After one night's stay, we got a discretionary service charge down from an eye watering £115 to £7 in an uncomfortable dialectic sat in the study - I am still none the wiser what it was all charged to me for. I was clear I just wanted to tip Freddy our restaurant waiter, and still the amount didn't go to that effect until I insisted. Then the other lady in reception asked us if we were "traveling onwards separately today?".. Why on earth would we be travelling onward from a romantic wedding anniversary separately?? It was obvious it was because we were both women. It made us feel like we were having some illicit affair. We were going home to our

Very special weekend spent at Heckfield Place for my husbands birthday. The staff and hotel really go the extra mile and every little detail is attended to. All of the food was exceptional, particularly our dinner at Heart and we loved the interiors and style of the hotel. Lots of fantastic lounge areas to relax in. Highly recommend the Estate Walk to all. It is also genuinely doggy friendly which lots of hotels claim to be, but actually aren't. We are just gutted we didn't have time to visit the screening room. We loved our stay and will definitely be back.
