We had a fabulous family evening at The Rising Sun last night. The atmosphere was great, the food (Chilli beef, steak and chips and vegetarian) was all excellent and the staff were all lovely! Thank you to Ben and the top team

The landlord/manager Ben and his brilliant team were amazing at serving a walking group of almost 30 people with the utmost efficiency. We were in the 'Ski Lodge', which was warm and cosy and decorated for the season. The food was warm, fresh and high quality, and all 26 dishes appeared within 10 minutes. We loved our visit.

Lovely family lunch. Everyone had a roast. Loved the cabbage as an extra ‘green’. Puddings delicious too. Atmosphere is great and service attentive. Only improvement would have been a warmer plate/ food so would have stayed warmer for longer ( that would make it a 5 star review!).

An excellent family lunch made even more special by the excellent food and attentive service, headed up by Jess. Thank you so much……. The family gathering had been a long time in the making and meant so much to all of us, Jess, you and your team and the kitchen made the occasion perfect - we are all so grateful. Once again Ben and his team have proven that the Rising Sun is the perfect venue for those special ‘family’ occasions.

I have been several times, and recommended it to people. The food is good, and the staff pleasant. The waiting times are quite unacceptable.

Went to the Rising Sun to celebrate my daughters birthday. I emailed in advance to tell them. I ordered a simply steak but they gave me a sirloin which was much more expensive. It was sort full of gristle, too too tough to cut and very disappointing. My daughter orders the salmon pasta. The salmon was like mush and had no firm chunks and was flavourless. My husband had the burger which was fine. No fuss was made about my daughters birthday - not even a ‘happy birthday!’. I was then presented with the wrong bill to pay. When I discovered they had charged me for a sirloin not the simple steak I raised it with the waitress who just replied, shrugging her shoulders ‘what do you want me to do?’ I’ve eaten here before and it was great, will I eat there again now - no.

Just brilliant! We hadn’t booked and they managed to squeeze us in (on a Sunday lunchtime) but had to put a time limit on the table which worried me initially but with brilliant service the food was turned quickly, efficiently and we cleared the table in time. And the food was incredible! We aren’t local but will definitely be making the drive back (over and hour) here again ….. it really was that good!

Delicious food.Lovely atmosphere.. and most importantly brilliant service, very friendly and polite staff.
Went to the rising sun today with my walking group. I had the sate ramen for lunch, and it was fantastic. Hot, spicy, really tasty with some fab veg, perfectly cooked. I was wavering over this or a sandwich with chips but went with this and I am so glad I did, it was delicious, and filling and so different to what many pubs offer. Staff very friendly and lovely pub inside, would go out of my way to visit so I can eat that ramen again!

This was a bad choice of places to eat. Loads of dirty glasses waiting to be washed up. Food trodden into the carpet. We had to clean down our own table before we could sit down. Come on folks this is basic stuff and you weren't even that busy.

Busy village pub serving a good selection of home-cooked dishes. Good range of beers. Friendly and efficient service .Parking: Parking at the front of the pub, plus large car park at rear.

Stopped for lunch. Ordered the chicken pie, the only thing good in it was the pastry. The sauce was salty and the chicken pieces were tough. The cabbage was very al dente and the mash potatoes were ordinary.Plus they had the nerve to want to add a 10 per cent charge on the bill. The beer was expensive too.I won't go back.
