My husband booked this place for us for one night. The good thing is you get to choose your actual room. The pub doesn't look much when you park up. It looks like a boat house. The river Wye was very high so the ferry wasn't working. Once inside the pub the staff were very welcoming and we were shown to Room 10. The room had massive radiators on the wall and was very warm. The room had two windows, only one would open. I get very warm and need a window to open. The blinds on the windows didn't work properly which was a shame. The room had wooden floors and the bed was on wooden legs so it would be easy to clean under and mop. The bedside tables did have dust on and on the cables for the phone and radio. I am having cancer treatment and need a spotless clean room and anywhere we stay I clean before we settle in. The bathroom was enormous, the bath took half an hour to fill and took two comfortably. There was another massive radiator which made the room lovely and cozy. Very clean bathroom. Free bubble bath, shampoo and conditioner. There was a kettle and iron and the bed was very clean and comfortable. We were automatically booked in for evening meal if we wanted as we were residents. The pub had a log burner which was burning away at one end. The pub had a massive selection of beers, ales, ciders and everyother drink you could ever want. The pub however had no atmosphere. Wooden tables and a number of high backed settels but when you sat down for a drink they kept moving us so they could lay the table for the people who had booked for a meal. There wern't enough tables or cozy places to sit and have a drink. The first room with the woodburner could do with a makeover and the furniture rearranging. We came down for our meal in the room between the bar and the dinningroom. There was a gas Woodburn but it wasn't lit and the room was chilly. We ordered steak my husband a sirloin and I had ribeye. They were the best steaks we have ever had, cooked to perfection. The steak came with chips, a tomato abd two mushrooms. Veg were extra. The steaks were £28 which for the quality was fine. I also had apple and blackberry crumble and icecream which was gorgeous but £8.95 which is quite expensive. My husband had icecream for £5. All the tables were taken after we had eaten so the only place to sit and eat was outside under a tarpaulin attached to the main building which wasn't nice. However, the next morning the breakfast was amazing. It was served in the dinning room which was soulless and we were glad we didn't sit in there for our evening meal. The waitress took our order, there was no help yourself which I initially didn't like but it made sence, less waste. You could order yogurt, toast, cereal. We had the full English, it was all the best quality ingredients and was the best we have ever had. The room cost £150 including breakfast.Rooms: Room 10 warm, clean. Comfortable.Food & drinks: Food amazing. Top quality ingredients.

The Saracens Head has been a wonderful stop off point for us after walking the dogs for many years. With a lite menu and a full menu (the latter only available in the main restaurant, which is understandably not able to have dogs in) for appetites to match. In the summer months, sit outside on the large patio and watch the River Wye pass you by, whilst passing the hours chatting to both the staff (in a good way) and the other clientele. In the winter months, sit inside in the end room with the very warming log burner that makes you forget the weather outside.Having parked up, don't forget to tell the staff that you've parked in their car-park, and you'll get that money knocked off your bill.

On a canoe trip down the Wye and stopped in for some chips and a beer. There were numerous people having Sunday lunch so a booking is worth while. The roast dinners did look scrummy. Overall a perfect place to sit on the sun to watch the river flow by then a stroll in the woods to work off your lunch.Walkability: Perfectly situated by the river with woodland walks along the banks of The Wye. Lovely area to visit.

A lovely place to come for Sunday roast by the River Wye! We all really enjoyed our food and the portions were great! Would definitely come back.

The Sunday lunch was absolutely lovely! Real tastey and very generous portion sizes. The belly pork was amazing and and the roast beef just melted in your mouth. The service was absolutely first rate, very quick, but without feeling rushed, and ever so friendly.Nearby activities: Plenty of water sports in the area.Walkability: There are loads of walk to take to and from the pub for all levels.Food & drinks: The food, drink and staff are brilliant!

Staying near by and had 2 meals here. Yesterday lunch (Open face streak sandwich... Amazing) and today Sunday roast... Just as wonderful. Food is so so so delicious and the service is just as good! This is a place that could simply not care... Because tourists don't have a lot of choice in this area. Yet they make it an amazing dining experience!! And .. To make it better...while we were having our lunch it began to get quite stormy outside. We couldn't get a taxi and we're told .."no worries... One of the staff will take you.". And she did! Highly recommended!
