Delicious food

Really good quality food at a quiet lunchtime. We shared 6 dishes between two of us, some lovely flavours, good service, and we will be going again

The concept of this place, especially downstairs is really good, the counter dining option is definitely the way to go. Menu and wine both had a good selection. Food however was mediocre at best, I couldn’t recommend any of the dishes that we had and more importantly they didn’t taste anything remotely like Spanish cuisine. Nowhere to hang coats so you either put them on the floor, sit on them or was told to “put them on the high chairs by the toilet”…hmm. The whole experience was 45 minutes, including desert, i understand the concept of tapas, but this was way to fast. I think this place has potential, but it needs to get the basics right…namely the food

Pretty poor, booked a table and we we're sat downstairs around the bar amongst other couples, one who particularly liked the sound of his own voice so it wasn't very personal. Food was ok, but came out in dribs and drabs. We cancelled our last item due to waiting over 15 minutes. Probably won't

I mean, I grew up in the south of Spain. Tapas is what I grew up with so I'm a bit traditional when it comes to a tapas restaurant, tapas and anything that calls itself tapas. So, for me, this didn't make the Spanish tapas grade. However, as a spin on a tapas restaurant goes and as far as good food goes it was really good. So it was more a small plates restaurant with a hint of Spain thrown in here and there. The Jamón Croquetas were nice.

I wish I had found this restaurant sooner! Amazing food & atmosphere…. A refreshing change to the usual restaurants in the area. My new fave in Hertford! A must try for anyone that hasn’t been.

Just had an amazing birthday dinner here - the waitress who served us was so nice and recommended some great dishes - the mussels and pork belly were our favourites. House wine was very good as well. Would definitely recommend!

We went back to Anexo in Hertford for the second time for my birthday last night and had a really lovely dinner downstairs in the tapas bar area where it is for me personally the best ambiance. We had chorizo, jamón croquetas, pork belly, manchego and a few more dishes it was all delicious as always we had a really great time!!

Two of us dined in the downstairs bar stool section on a Friday night - great for a cosy night out but with a bit of atmosphere. We shared about 6/7 of the Tapas options - with the crispy crushed potatoes and the meatballs being our favourite dishes but most of the food was fantastic.Special mention to the waitress Amy downstairs who was running the bar stool section and was fantastic in taking ours and everyone else's orders, getting our drinkings and generally looking after us! Great job!Sadly didn't get a chance to take too many pictures, but it looked so good when it came most of the time we dived straight in!Well worth a visit for a fun place for dinner.

So arrived not expecting much as I’d had mixed reviews from friends who had dined previously. 5 blokes out for a meal (as our respective halves were away for the weekend) all super hungry and thirsty! From the moment we arrived I just knew we were going to have a great experience…I was not disappointed. We had a very engaging and bubbly waitress called Izzie..she was brilliant..particularly as she laughed at my lame jokes! She guided us through the menu explaining the format and suggested we order a minimum of 3 plates of food per person - so circa 15 plates. We ordered 22 plates. The manager who was also brilliant came to the table and suggested we had probably ordered too much food and didn’t want to see us send food back. We were all impressed by this. As it happened we stuck with our choices and scoffed the lot with room for pudding! The menu is not extensive but sufficient to provide a good choice of options along with the specials board. Food came out quickly as one would expect with tapas and without exception was very good. My particular favourites was the mussels, jamon and mushroom croquettes along with the stuffed courgette flower. The food was fantastic. We had both white and red house wines which were very quaffable. In summary..very good food along with lovely staff. Will definitely be back with my partner as she will love it. Well done to all concerned

Menu is short but that’s an asset in our opinion, with a healthy specials board. Staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Food is wonderful. Modern tapas with a twist and the setting is intimate whilst a healthy bustling environment. We will be back again!

Overpriced average quality food. Was there a year ago and it was much much better. Very disappointed this time around

Me and my husband just visited Anexo Hertford for the first time. And we were very happy. Book the bar stools opposed to the table in the restaurant if you want an intimate couple experience with dimmed ambiance downstairs. The food was fantastic and so was the service. My only request was that the pulpo ? was more typical español with potatoes and paprika. We can wait to come again we loved all of it especially the food. Gracias

We were at Annexo for opening night and have been many many times since - it is our favourite local to go to, but tonight was the first time that the food was not on point. We had to send 2 dishes back and didn’t get one of them (olives). The 2 dishes sent back were not replaced, they had just assumed we didn’t want them and took them off the bill. Generally the food wasn’t as tasty. The staff were lovely as per, none of this is their fault. But as we love this place so much, we felt compelled to write this review as constructive feedback.

The downstairs bar stool area is a nice place to eat.The food was very good (apart from the octopus which was too chewy).
