A pleasant stay at a charming hotel with a quirky lift, run by attentive and friendly staffRooms: The building and rooms are dated, but we expected that from an old building. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was a good size, and all facilities were in good working order. There is a quirky small lift/elevator to get your luggage to your room, which was quite fun.Walkability: Just a Short 5 mins from the town and train station, its in a perfect spot.Food & drinks: The food was delicious, and there was plenty of variation for all tastes. Sunday lunch was very good, and Breakfast was buffet-style on weekends and from a separate menu on weekdays.

I stayed at this hotel on 23 March 2024. The room was immaculately clean and spacious with a big spacious bathroom. Reasonably comfortable beds. Unusually breakfast is included in the price which was an added bonus. A lovely big bar onsite. Free parking. What impressed me most about this hotel was the staff who were all really friendly and helpful. From booking in to booking out all the staff made me feel welcome. I stopped for a drink at the bar before going to my room and was a little nervous being an older woman on her own but I needn’t have worried as I was soon put at ease by the lovely young man behind the bar. I will certainly book this hotel again. Not really suitable for wheelchair users as the lift is very small and all the rooms are up a flight of stairs. The hotel rang me before my arrival to warn me about the size of the lift and room location before my arrival; another example of good customer service.Rooms: Immaculately clean and spacious

Generally good with good service. Convenient for the town & close to restaurants.Rooms: Top floor room had a bed a bit small and the lift is antiquated - I wouldn't want a room near it. Otherwise fine.

We had a very friendly welcome when we arrived & shown to our rooms, my room was spacious & the bed comfortable. We really enjoyed the evening meal & breakfast not to mention the opportunity to taste the real ale served at the bar. A great all-in-one place to stay.

We were there as part of a party of eight, the bar and restaurant staff were first class, kept us fed and watered and made our stay.

Old fashioned room but absolutely spotless. I really liked the character of both room and bathroom. Staff were really polite, efficient and friendly. Really enjoyed the food.Would certainly recommend.

They've thought about this. Rooms impeccably clean and comfortable. Service and staff lovely and a fabulous place to sample their home brew beers. Breakfast freshly cooked and good ingredients and quality. The only thing which was a negative was having to climb the fire escape up to my room via the kitchen extractor bellowing out which is grim.
