Better and cheaper Hot Cross Buns than Simmons. Yes you read that right!

I ordered a large farmhouse loaf. I watched as the woman picked it up one handed. Crushed it as she did. Sliced it and handed me a squashed loaf. £2.30. Now I nearly bought one in a nearby supermarket at £1.30 but I thought no. I will look after my local shops. If I hadn’t already paid a different woman I’d have refused it. But nope. I took it and will not patronise couzens again. Shame really. But she knew what she did and then smiled as she handed me the crushed. Sliced. Loaf.

Probably the best WHC cafe I’ve experienced in the last 20-25 years.

Best bacon rolls in town for me. If you sit in, toasted teacakes and a coffee go down a treat. Good loaves

This would have been 5 stars all round. I really enjoy the food and cakes at this bakery and most of the staff are really lovely & friendly. However, one particular member of staff unfortunately seems to always be, unfriendly. I also question the hygiene as she went from using the till to making me a sandwich without washing her hands or wearing gloves.I’m not sure if she is this way with everyone or just me but her attitude towards me didn’t make me feel good and I’m unlikely to go back in a hurry.

This bakers supplies our local corner shop, but I was out and about yesterday and stopped by to grab lunch from here directly. There's something with a nod to the old fashioned and slightly less mass produced which makes this more tasty and enjoyable that the usual high street names. The cafe looked inviting, clean and fairly busy when I popped in during the start of the lunchtime rush.I decided to take my lunch out on a walk with me. I enjoyed a tuna salad baguette and an iced finger/bun which came in at just over £4. Both were delicious.

I tried to buy a few cups of coffee and something to eat. I was confronted by a staff member and then the manager enquiring if I intended to buy a cup of coffee for a man outside waiting for the bus who’s son I have been friends with for a long time. The staff refused to sell me a coffee for the man so I refused to use their service and shall not be back. In the Current day in age for a shop to refuse to sell to certain people is childish and to be honest quite embarrassing. I feel sorry for the ethos of such an establishment.

Nice food but a very slow service. No gloves worn when handling food .
