Evening Meal in this local Italian based restaurant. The food was absolutely fabulous. The calamari perfectly cooked and all the food beautifully presented and delicious.

On entering the restaurant we noticed an underlying smell of damp in the air and it was chilly. The heating was turned on after we arrived but it was from an overhead heater that was blowing directly from above down onto our heads. Two of our party ordered beers and were served them in the bottles. On asking for glasses we were given two mismatched ones. Waited almost an hour for our food. Chased our order and were told by the waitress that there was 'chaos in the kitchen'. A young waiter told us there was only one chef and was very insolent and rude. Noticed a couple of pizza deliveries being sent out which had presumably been given priority over food for the restaurant. If they were struggling then they should have suspended their delivery service for a while. When the food arrived all three pasta dishes were served with spaghetti not the linguine and penne that had been requested. The waitress offered to change the dishes but we didn't dare risk another long wait. The food was fine-other than the lasagne which was not very nice-not like a traditional lasagne at all and very strange. We would have ordered desserts and coffee but were so fed up with the place by then that we didn't bother. The only positive from the evening was that we were given a complimentary round of drinks as compensation but this didn't make up for the overall poor experience and we will not be returning to this restaurant. Visited the toilets before we left which were rather unpleasant and in need of an overhaul (see photos).

Excellent service and food. Lovely olives, bread, and cheese balls for appetisers. I was served one of the best sirloin steaks that I've had. Cooked to perfection and very tender. A small, friendly and top class restaurant well worth a visit. 5*

Great food, great service from the Italian chef in house! I thought the atmosphere and food was exceptional and the quality of service was incredible. I will definitely be coming back.

A hidden gem in Welwyn Village, well worth travelling too if you are not local. Second time in two weeks, the food doesn’t disappoint, it is fresh tasty, full of flavour and beautifully present and on point. The chef clearly has a passion for food and that comes through on the plate. Would thoroughly recommend.

Dined here earlier in the week and it was an absolute delight. From the warm welcome to impeccable service, the evening was memorable. The staff's friendliness stood out, and they were attentive without being intrusive. The Rump steak was a highlight—cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The menu offers diverse options with a focus on quality ingredients. The cozy ambiance and inviting decor added to the overall experience. In summary, exceptional service, delicious food, and a great atmosphere make this restaurant a must-try. Can't wait to return!

Went for a group meeting reserving the upper floor and with a preordered meal plan with a fixed price of 35 of pounds without drinks. The reserve was at 6:30PM, starter was set on the table at 7PM, but the already preordered main meal was not ready until 9PM, which they forgot to serve in despite of me asking for it repeatedly. After everyone else had finished their meal, I had to get my meal as take away as we needed to leave the place. paid 42 pounds in total for a soft drink and the fixed meal. overall terrible experience, not recommended for event, big groups or in general.

After using the restaurant for at least 5 years we were disappointed with the meal the size of the starter has gone down less than half what it use to be and gone up in price, one dish that was served was not as the menu stated and got charged for a wine that we did not order but that qas rectified at the time of payment because I complained the head man or chef came and talked to us and accused my partner of being in a bad mood before we got there .Needless to say it is the last time we will eat there which is very sad as we have had some great meals the there in a wonderful friendly atmosphere, maybe just a bad night all round but it was enough to stop us eating there anymore just to add one more point if you can't have salt in your meals stay away

Have been going for years to the restaurant and loved it unfortunately on a recent visit for dinner I was shocked at how bad it had become. The food was not as good, the staff seemed to not know what they were doing, there seemed a lack of supplies behind the bar. To top it all the card machine wasn't working so it's cash or transfer, surely as a business if that has not worked for a while as it seems you'd be in touch with your card machine supplier? The owners whites, that were a green colour were dirty and I wouldn't say it was from just that evenings cooking. I took my friends there as a new Italian had opened in the village and I thought I'll support this long standing one... Unfortunately I won't be visiting again. Not sure why it's gone like this. Very disappointed

We have been coming to VITA for years as the SERVICE THE FOOD has always been TOP CLASS however our most recent visit was like being part of the cast in a episode of FAWLTY TOWERS.We were NOT GREETED on arrival as the staff were ARGUING about someone’s order.Eventually we were taken upstairs to our table to which had no cutlery on it and not even wiped down . We like a restaurant with a good ATMOSPHERE but not due to the fact not bothering to replace BLOWN LIGHTBULBS.There we’re just 3 light bulbs covering the upstairs. Eventually the table was set from retrieving cutlery from other tables. There was always lovely WHITE TABLE CLOTHS on the tables a lit candle and a small flower arrangement this is all been replaced by DIRTY TABLES. After about 20 minutes we were asked if we would like a drink. The selection of DRINKS is very POOR now . We were given our menus and made our selection. One of the meals was wrong. Parts of the meals were OF POOR QUALITY ie Italian sausage pasta meal is now ROLLED-UP MINCE MEAT. People on the other table were disappointed by the quality of there meals and their meal was wrong. At this point we couldn’t wait to leave. Then we were informed that it’s CASH ONLY. We couldn’t believe it my husband had to go outside and find a cash point machine. Seems to me you only want cash if your RUNNING THE BUSINESS INTO THE GROUND so that you can RUN OFF WITH THE MONEY and the TAX MAN doesn’t know where the money is . Normally we would go back to this restaurant as everybody has a off night but we don’t think it will be open much longer

I love this little restaurant. This is my third visit and it never disappoints. Everything is cooked with love and tastes delicious, this is probably due to the owner/chef overseeing everything personally and I love that personal touch. The filet steak was first class and a special mention for the home made Tiramisu, absolutely delicious. The restaurant has a lovely ambience and feels very friendly and comfortable. Already looking forward to my next visit.

Vita was lovely, I must admit I have always preferred Aqua but as it's gone, Vita is now the only option, if you want Italian in the village. The food was good, bar the dessert. Tesco's Tiramasu is better, was very runny and not v flavoursome. Not sure there is much of an atmosphere but it was pleasant, staff were lovely.Vegetarian options: Limited options

The last time we visited this restaurant about two months ago it was very good and we enjoyed the experience but this time it was a totally different experience. Waited ages to get a drink, waited ages to order and then the meal was not good, when we got the bill it wasn’t ours, then to crown it all “the machine wasn’t working” so it was pay by cash or bank transfer!

Awful from start to finish. Waited 25 minutes for a menu. Waited over an hour for food. Wrong wine was brought up 3 times. Waited an hour for a lemonade. Dessert i had reserved / pre ordered was sold and had none left. Then was told card machines not working so its cash or bank transfer.. shouldve been told when we arrived. Table next to us said the waiter put a dish down infront of her and said ‘we don't have what you ordered so eat this instead’ Waiters were all very young, poorly run and very unorganised. Only good thing was the food was nice.
