Portion sizes are a joke !. purchased Hunters chicken and sorry but I have seen better looking roadkill as a presentation. Not accusing you but it looked like the cheapest budget meal for one purchased at the local supermarket and then destroyed.please see photo attached so you can believe me

Great food. Has lots of gluten free options. Friendly staff and also dog friendly. Worth a visit. They do an amazing Sunday lunch.

Sunday lunch for four was less than satisfactory. Three roast beefs (two regular and one small) were disappointing. Plenty of vegetables: carrots, roast potatoes and broccoli were good but red cabbage was not pleasant. But the roast beef was a mess of little pieces of meat - tender but tasteless - that was piled up on top of the vegetables with a dried up Yorkshire pudding plonked on top like a hat! A side order of parsnips was well received. The fourth meal, a salad, was adequate.Dessert was disappointing too: tiny portions at over £5 a go were a rip off. It is hard to see how the chocolate brownie (about two inches square and three-quarters of an inch deep) could have been smaller for a mini dessert.Service was very slow even though it wasn't that busy. It took a long while before our order was taken and an even longer one for our meals to arrive. There were about four or five staff on duty. One youth was gormless and could barely communicate effectively who plonked three dessert spoons down on the table in one place and walked off. The other staff were fine.

Had lunch on a Sunday, food was good and hot. Service was quick and efficient. Only criticism is the nacho portion was tiny. But apart from that an all round good, and well priced lunch.

Me and my husband took his mother for dinner this lunchtime. Her mobility isn’t great but was nice to know she could enter by the emergency exit nearest the car park.Staff were more than hospitable and nothing was to much trouble.Food was amazing. Plenty of choice, servings generous, and extremely tasty.Sorry can’t rate the value as hubby paid, but he did so easily so he must have been well happy.Definitely will eat there again. To all the staff - thank you for everything.X

We visited the North Star on Saturday for an impromptu family meal. We placed our order for a small fish and chips, cheese and bacon burger and a kids chicken strips meal. The adult food came first and it was suspiciously quick. Like quicker than I would imagine it would take to cook it. My fish was horribly greasy and the meal itself wasn’t good and My partner felt the same about his burger. My son really enjoyed his kids meal and it was definitely the best out of the three of them. When the waitress cleared our plates, she said absolutely nothing. Even though we had both left over half of the food on the adult meals. Overall it was just a bit disappointing. We drive past the pub often and when we finally decided to give it a try, it ended up being a complete waste of money.

Fantastic! This describes the experience, service, food and staff. Booked for 75th surprise birthday party for my father. Staff were very polite, professional and accommodating to all requests. The food was served quickly and very tasty. Amazingly the price was so much lower than expected for this 5 star service.

I took my son for lunch and he chose fish and chips. I hadn't been for a while but live locally. Was so disappointing, he was hungry so ate it and doesn't like to make a fuss but wasn't happy, I tasted it, I wasn't even sure what fish it was, it was tasteless and over fried. It was all batter and not much of anything else sadly. Not good at all! If I had ordered it I would have sent it back. Couldn't even tell you what fish it was but didn't taste of cod and seemed of very low quality. Such a shame as its a beautiful pub in a lovely area with with lovely atmosphere but food wasn't good. Given there are 2 other pubs locally I'm not convinced I will return if that is the quality of the food.
