Great service & great food when we visited last week. Can’t recommend enough. Table service is brill, we were seen to in a matter of minutes! Food was delicious and came out quickly despite how busy it was. Cost was not bad when you think of how much everything costs now a days too. Well done the fighting cocks will definitely be back ??

Poor quality food, unfortunately to cut costs Island pubs are now buying the cheapest products. We had ham which before ordering were told it was quality it was cheap cafe quality peas were cold, glass still had the smell of of dish washer fluid. Got refund which took money from us instead of refunding had to go back to get refund corrected no apology. You can judge a business by how they deal with problems. This pub failed dismally.

Always a busy place but the food was not great. The vegetable strifry consisted of just peppers and onion served with rice and a few prawn crackers, the strifry with chicken was the same as the vegetable one what looked like precooked chicken breast added at the end. The battered cod was very small, it looked like a deli portion despite costing £16.50, served with a small portion of chips and a pot of mushy peas. The batter was soggy and soft. Very poor value for money. Not in a hurry to return

Everyone kept telling me this was a great place to eat, and to be fair it probably is from a service perspective. It’s the food that lets it down. We were seated in the lovely conservatory and ordered our food, chilli von carne and a pizza. My first issue is the pizza looks great value until you realise that you are charged extra for the cheese, (pretty standard topping imho) but never the less we carried on, when the food was served the first thing I noticed was how dry the chilli looked, huge amounts of rice and a couple of spoonfuls of chilli beef on top with a pot of sour cream and some nachos. My friend actually asked for more sour cream to help wet the dish down. And then there’s my pizza, on the surface it looked fantastic, it was however served on a. Hog rimmed plate making cutting it with a pizza wheel very challenging, but the biggest issue was that the homemade pizza sauce had been made with chopped tomatoes and not blended out so all of the topping slid off as soon as you lifted the pizza slice up! I’ve never had a lumpy pizza sauce and hopefully never will again. Dessert was a brownie sundae which looked and tasted great, definitely enough for two to share though. Would we go again ? Maybe but to be honest the food tastes good, is more the execution that’s the problem. But the service is from all the staff is really good and nothing was too much hassle.

A beautiful location with lovely traditional pub features. The food was really good (especially the garlic chicken). And we really liked the buttons at the table.

My wife, our son, and I, together with my mother, visited for lunch yesterday. Their extensive menu was impressive, the service was quick and attentive, the staff were lovely, and the food was delicious. We ordered fajitas, a tagliatelle, squid sticks and liver and bacon. All perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. I'm looking forward to visiting again.

Visited the Fighting Cocks this evening for dinner with friends, the steak and ale pie is the best you’ll find anywhere a 2” thick slice of melt in the mouth meat it never disappoints , and the chicken fajitas were amazing, put on top of this an excellent team of staff and you’ve got the best pub on the Isle of Wight, something for everyone with excellent service?

My wife, daughter and myself popped in for lunch having passed several times . The car park usually very busy so we keep going usually but decided to try it today. Great idea with the table service button. We were served promptly. My wife had tagliatelle carbonara which she enjoyed despite usually not liking her order. My daughters fish fingers etc were ok for a kids meal. I ordered cod chips etc. was all ok except for the fa t that once I had ploughed through the large piece of batter I discovered a minnow. I should have sent it back but then you end up eating alone when everyone else has finished. That’s life

We have been to the Fighting Cocks many times with family and friends. We were here today with friends and were utterly disgusted to see a dog being allowed to sit at the table with paws on the table so very unhygienic as other people will sit at this table later. The table had about 6 people on it and all taking turns to have the dog on their lap sat at the table. Think public health needs to be informed of this and I can assure you we will never return to your place again. Also staff were well aware of this as they brought the meals to the table when the dog was sat at the table.

Great tasting veggie roast dinner! Fabulous sticky toffee pudding, too. Excellent service, very friendly and very quick! Family atmosphere was a bit noisy, but we were close to some very well-behaved children and a lovely baby, so not a problem!Vegetarian options: Lots of veggie and vegan choices, including vegan ice cream.

Best lunch on the island, in my opinion. I had peppered chicken it was lovely . The peppercorn sauce was the best I've ever had, came with 3 vegetables. My hubby had gammon, which was lovely chargrilled and a lovely flavour. Highly recommend. The staff on the bar and waiting staff were impressive also . 5 star ? today will be back.Vegetarian options: There was a lot of choiceParking: Lots of parking spaces, even when really busy.

Arrived early for booked table but seated fairly promptly by a friendly member of staff. Explained to press ‘call’ button device when ready to order & someone would take our order. No explanation as to where to find ‘Specials’ board. Extensive menu. Ordered, on the recommendation of the chap on table next to us, 2 of the IOW Steak & Ale Pies. Indeed, the pie was excellent but the accompaniments were awful. The veggies were cold and strangely, completely different with each serving of pie. One had a massive pile of red cabbage, broccoli, swede & a very thin slice of Parsnip; the other had cauliflower, red cabbage, carrots, a thin slice of parsnip and what we think was turnip (even the waitress was unsure what it was). The veggies were solid & inedible. Chips were ok. Mash was clearly the frozen pellet form that got microwaved to try & resemble mash (try adding butter to give it a less dry appearance and for flavour. Gravy was gloopy. Scampi, chips & peas were good. This was really disappointing. We had no check back to ask if we were happy & no one answered our ‘call’ button to offer feedback to tell them of our dissatisfaction. The young lady who cleared the table could see the veggies had been left, but didn’t even ask if we enjoyed our lunch, just cleared the plates. We decided not to have a dessert here & pressed the ‘call’ button for the bill. No one came. After 10 mins of waiting, we went to the bar to pay. The young waitress who took payment said she would give our feedback to the kitchen! I’m sorry, but this could have been handled so much better Fighting Cocks. We weren’t the only customers to leave after a poor main meal (Sunday 8/10/23).

Stopped here for lunch while visiting the island from Southampton. The place was very busy but we were shown to a table straight away by a very friendly waitress. We had a jacket potato with beans and a mixed seafood tagliatelle. The food portions were very big and delicious. The best pub food I have had for a few years. Will definitely come here again. Highly recommended.

Absolutely fantastic place. Food amazing and prices reasonable for the amount of food you get. Definitely 5 Stars.
