Community pub with an unpretentious interior. Recommended by friends and worth the trip from Hawkhurst. Ample parking and exceptionally clean.Vegetarian options: My mac & cheese with various mushrooms was delicious.Dietary restrictions: My husbands vegan needs were very well catered with 24 notice.Parking: Next to the pub.

We had a very lovely lunch today, the food was superb and high quality a credit to Jim the chef. Staff were brilliant, friendly and helpful. We rate ourselves very lucky to have The George within walking distance. Thoroughly recommended.

This was my first visit to this community run and owned pub. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The food was exquisite and is made using locally sourced ingredients. I don’t eat meat but had quite a choice from the menu. It is one of those places where you get food envy when other people’s selections arrive. Presentation is beautiful. They have a great wine list. We were all drinking different wines and all pleased. My tipple is Malbec… my eyebrows went up … a seriously nice glass of wine. I will definitely be returning

We visited the George yesterday for a quick evening meal. The restaurant was full of people and we soon realised why. The food was exceptional! To our amazement, we were treated to an amuse bouche, something one only gets in high-end restaurants. The menu looked exciting and the food we chose was delicious. The prices were really good too. The bustling atmosphere of the restaurant further attested to the Chef Jim's remarkable talent and culinary expertise. Needless to say, we left the George thoroughly delighted and already making plans for our next visit.

Enjoyed a Birthday celebration here yesterday evening. The Food was fantastic and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. It was a great atmosphere and ticked all the boxes. It was my first visit but it will not be the last! Well worth a visit and recommended.
Really good meal in recently reopened community owned pub. Great choice of drinks, cosy atmosphere and friendly locals in the bar. Food was excellent - produced by Rocksalt trained chef - simple, qaulity ingredients. Even fussy teen daughter loved it.

Our first visit to The George Pub in Betherden. If you go for Sunday Lunch you will not be disappointed. A Warm and inviting atmosphere awaits with cosy log fires in both bars. The new chef certainly knows how to present the perfect Sunday Lunch. Good choice of meats, we had the lovely roast beef with Yorkshire pud, stuffing ball and four dishes of excellent veg, so different to the usual cabbage, broccoli & carrots served at most outlets. The friendly & efficient service in the restaurant and bar is spot on with a nice selection of well-kept cask ales & plenty of flavoured gins. Obvious why the community got together to save this gem of a pub. Will definitely return in the near future.

A nice touch of amuse bouche, delicious soup then fantastic tasty food and plenty of it. My grandson (10) said the chicken goujons were brilliant.

Was lucky enough to experience a Sunday roast on the first day of The George opening back up again for meals. The atmosphere was comfortable and the service was very attentive and friendly. The meal was absolutely superb! Plenty of food, amazing quality and well priced for such high quality. Didn’t really have enough space pudding but couldn’t say no and was not disappointed. We are already looking forward to coming back for another visit. Thank you Team George for a lovely afternoon!Vegetarian options: Vegetarians well catered forDietary restrictions: They were able to give clear guidance on ingredients and catered well for vegetarians and peanut allergiesParking: Plenty of parking available locally
