Refurbished since the pandemic, the range of snacks and drinks is now pleasingly wide. There are some great special offers - on our visit we had the toasted pannetone cake with our drinks. We enjoy reading the cafe newspapers as well, but wish other people wouldn't start filling in the crosswords!

Update on my last review I wrote (back in 2018). Waitrose cafe remains behind the times in terms of lack of options for different dietary requirements. Last time a member of my family visited we were told we could go buy something vegan from the main supermarket and bring it in to eat. If we are intending to go there for a coffee and cake after or before shopping in the supermarket then why should we have to head out of the cafe area to purchase something and bring it back? Might as well have skipped the cafe all together! :( I do hope Waitrose realises that in 2022 there is a high demand for vegan food options now and that if the options were there they would sell and even those who aren't vegan would eat them. Non-vegans often choose vegan options to be healthier or to try something new :). At least they are doing Oat milk now - at least that one small thing has changed since 2018. :(
