Stayed the night before getting ferry from Dover. Ate in the Brewersfayre at the hotel which from the outside appeared a little dated. Chap on reception was helpful and friendly. Menu in Brewersfayre was standard but golly both the staff (Summer, Georgia on table service and George behind the bar) were excellent, friendly, professional and very welcoming. Food too exceeded expectations, obviously freshly cooked, proper oven baked potato, gammon succulent and my smothered platter first class with very tender steak. Frankly a better experience than many more expensive restaurants used elsewhere. Many thanks all

Had a lovely family meal here. We arrived at a busy time but the level of professionalism and customer service impressed me. We had the lovely waitress Summer, who was warm, welcoming when we arrived and catered to all our needs. The evening went smoothly with food arriving quickly. I highly recommend this restaurant!

We haven't been here for a few years, and was pleasantly surprised, the roast dinner was really really tasty and good value for money, only downside was the slow service at the bar to pay, as the barman was on his own, but will definitely be back.

Christmas day dinner. Table booked for 14:30 and we shown our table on time. Yes it was abit busy but each member of staff made contact each time they passed our table. Food was lovely and hot, all of us left very full and satisfied. Big well done to all the staff that gave up their Christmas day so we as customers could enjoy ours Fully recommend.
We have been to the Duke of York a few times now and have found the food always good. The service has always been excellent. We were served by Angela today and on other occasions and it has been a pleasure to have such a good waitress serve you. She was very pleasant and friendly. Keep up the excellent work, will be back again.

Our lunch was beautiful. Kind staff especially ANGELA hot food. No queing for the bar or carvery. 2 of my family chose off the menu. It was superb. Hot . I had carvery. It was hot,fresh,and great choice. . We will be returning soon .

Came here for Xmas dinner last year and had a fantastic time. Food and service was amazing. So much so that we came back again this year. Sad to say this was nowhere close to last year. Service was terrible and so slow, had to ask for our arrival bubbly and starters. No one came to take our starter plates, so we had to put them on an empty table and made our way to the carvery. Queue was long, but food was very nice. No service while we ate, so couldn’t order any drinks, husband ran up to the bar to grab a bottle of wine as it was the only way to get a drink. After dinner, we sat waiting for plates to be cleared and for pudding but no one came, I had to actually go and find someone to get our puddings.We were sat close to another couple who had the same issues.I personally believe that they tried to cram in as many tables and covers with no where near enough staff this year, they seriously let themselves down and took the whole Christmas atmosphere away this year.Such a shame as we eat here often and have never had any issues.
