We had delicious meals with excellent service. We had roast lamb with all the trimmings and salmon/smoked haddock fishcakes and poached egg, all fantastic with generous portions. Desserts were chocolate brownie, knickerbocker glory and a cherry and chocolate ice cream dessert.

I brought the girlfriend here an early valentines meal, first time for both of us here and it was an excellent night, our waiter was lovely and the food was amazing, the price is perfect for the quality, would absolutely recommend, and will go again.

Me and my partner came here yesterday, first time we have ever been, we will definitely be back, staff very polite and friendly, made us feel very welcome, I tried a cocktail off the Chinese menu and it was lovely, the food was honestly outstanding! It’s pricey but you definitely get what you pay for! Didn’t feel like we was waiting long for our food yet it was super busy, you could tell the food was fresh and the presentation was outstanding! Definitely be back and definitely recommend to others!

Good solid pub grub, I had a beef burger and my partner had the venison burger. The spicy sweetcorn soup was delicious to start. There is a really good selection of drinks and nice to see some nice alcohol free cocktails too. I had a lovely ipa which showed how well the cellar is managed, the pint arrived at the table completely milky to the bottom and it took ages to fully settle, a sign of a really good pint! 4 stars for service, because we were stood near the bar looking puzzled for a while and were ignored by some passing staff when we clearly had just arrived and didn't know where to go and who to speak to about being seated. Once seated though, the staff were excellent. Maybe a sign near the door giving some instruction would be good. 4 stars for food, the portion size of some of the starters in our party seemed a bit stingy. Would probably return if passing.

Excellent Pub, staff, food and environment. Worth the expense, you get what you pay for. A well decorated, clean gastro pub for a special occasion. The. Beer is kept really well too. Ample parking, easy to find, lovely location. Nothing negative to say.Kid-friendliness: We took our 4 year old, the staff were great with him. Great kids menu, not just chicken nuggets, chips and beans like most places, a bit more adventurous. We had the halloumi fries.
I went to the Highwayman pub for my godfathers birthday, as we booked accommodation nearby. We were total of 7 and a dog.I was a bit indecisive in what I wanted to eat for a main and asked the staff what they recommended. She mentioned the lamb and I have to say it was the best dinner I’ve had in a pub in a while.I also had starters and cocktails and other people in my party had the steak, pie and wine but the braised shoulder of lamb by far was the creme de la creme. It was very tender, good portion size and delicious. Happily would return just for this! I thank the chef and the front staff who were very friendly as well as making the experience more enjoyable. Would highly recommend.

Thoroughly recommend The Highwayman. Booked on December for a birthday. The food was fantastic (totally recommend the lamb) and the staff were super friendly. If you are in the area it won't disappoint.

This was the second time we had been for a meal. The first time my meal was ok, my partners very good. Soup was excellent. We returned for a second visit, this time my meal was good my partners not so good. She got the pheasant burger, bad choice as the burger was not great. The chips with it you could see before the plate hit the table were well and truely over cooked. They bounced off the plate if you tried to cut them. I tried one, rubbish. Very rare we make comment about food usually put up with it ,but mentioned it. Waitress returned the meal to the kitchen and returned within no time with meal apologising. The chips looked exactly the same. To the credit of woman behind the bar she apologised and said would deduct from the bill , we did n't expect it. Reviews are good but disappointing on our visit, how do you get chips wrong. The people on the opposite table also found themselves complaining. Must have been a bad day
