Shocking complete waste of

Johnny Breslin

On entry, we got told 45mins wait for food. Even though we'd booked a table. Just over an hour later, our food arrived. Ordered the steak, swimming in blood. Not rested and cold. Won't be rushing back.

Location was convenient for the motorway, M55. The bed was low and comfortable and the shower was good. It was a cheap place to stay. Everything else was poor quality. I was concerned with cleanliness as the place looked like it needed a deep clean. There was no restaurant, so I had to go out for the evening meal and breakfast.

Rude staff. Went In with daughter who needed the loo. She was crying her eyes out and staff said no she couldn't use the loo and were pretty rude.

The bed was the most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever slept in it was two single mattresses put together, the children’s bed was like a prison cell bed so our little boy had to stay in with us. The rooms it’s self was disgusting- see attached photos re the bathroom and windows The carpet was filthy The room isn’t secure anyone can come in and out at all times and it only has a small bolt on the inside. The bathroom was tiny, the shower was ok but the bath fitted a toddler in no way would an adult fit. The staff were lovely And when we asked for extra pillows as we only had one each she brought them straight away. She also explained if we had said the night before she would have moved us but it was already late when we arrived and we didn’t see the extent of the dirt until it was light this morning. The air con didn’t work and we were melting all night, there wasn’t a working extracted fan in the bathroom either Definitely wouldn’t stay again

Where to start!!! The horrible damp smell through the hotel (really not a hotel). The bedding was damp. We ended up changing the bedding after midnight. Still, the smell wasn't the best. The bathroom was generally clean, however the dirt and mould in the corners and the non working extractor fan wasn't great. The shower was tiny! There were no basic bathroom amenities, not even a towel rail! The carpet in the room looked dirty, and furniture looked dated and in a state of disrepair. We changed rooms the next morning, which was a lot better, even though we had to boil the kettle a few times before we used it. There is no opportunity for food other than a machine of drinks and chocolate and crisps. The pub next door is closed down.... Websites not updated. Totally ruined the stay as we were attending a wedding close by. The only decent thing about the hotel was the staff!! The morning receptionist was soo helpful, couldnt fault him. He got us a fan and towels and printed a list of local eateries. He also helped us with room change. The night reception got us some dry bedding. I didn't want to stay another night, but the room change helped, and the local fisheries for breakfast was fantastic. We booked 2 nights for a wedding. I didn't sleep on the awful hard bed the first night!. Both rooms had divan beds without the drawers... The Villa Express is literally a place to lay your head and the use of a basic bathroom (bring your own toiletries). Even the loo roll were sheets rather than an actual toilet roll. Again, I must emphasise how great the front of house and housekeeping team were.

Comfortable room. Tv and nice power shower. Had good rest. Close to KFC and aldi as food needed due to pub being closed. On the whole a nice stay .

This hotel was a stones throw from our Huey helicopter experience day. What a great shame that the pub/carvery next door has closed down (as are so many pubs in the area) .. but don’t let this put you off. The blonde lady who checked us in was very helpful & nothing was too much trouble .. directions to the nearest stores for supplies etc, extra towels on request & even a beer glass! The room was cosy & clean with a dinky bathroom as we asked for on booking. Incredible value for money Thanks for a great 2 night stay.Rooms: Clean & everything you need .. well done !Nearby activities: Huey helicopters !

Me and my other half came just before Christmas (16th December) we found the rooms were very clean, along with the bedding and towels, plenty of toiletries and the staff were very friendly and happy to help with anything! No request too big or small! Will be coming again.

We have been staying at the Villa Express 3 or 4 times a year for the last 5 years now. You always get a warm welcome and a cheery smile on arrival. As I am disabled we always request the same room, and unless they are really busy they always try to oblige us, and up to now we have only had to change our room once. This helps me, as its the nearest room to the reception. The beds are comfortable, the room always clean, and the manager Janet, all reception staff, Sandra and all the housekeeping staff, plus the night security staff are there and are all willing to help if you have any questions or problems. We cannot fault it, and all our stays have been brilliant, to the point i would class the staff as friends rather than staff!!

Our engineers stay at the Villa Express on a regular basis and receive a great service from the staff. They have favourite rooms, as a bath is a good reward after a hard day's work. It's a shame that the pub next door has closed, but guests are able to take food into their rooms.
