Really lovely and friendly service. The carrot cake was nice, but the icing had been changed from the last visit about a year ago. What tasted like fresh cream last time to butter sugar this time making it less tasty. Coffees were ok too.

Took my mum here for a Mother’s Day meal - pre booked the Sunday dinner which was a large helping of Turkey, roast potatoes, homemade Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, carrots, cabbage and broccoli. Great value for money, brilliant food and all of the staff were warm and lovely to us. 10/10 highly recommend!

I’ve just had the best fruit scone and pea and mint soup for £6.95! They were both so delicious and fresh I had to leave this review. Wonderful food, coffee, open fire and very warm customer service. Thank you!

Rude staff. Unbelievably expensive for what they are selling. Unpleasant atmosphere(unless you are a villager) Please drive on if you value customer service, value for money and pleasant atmosphere. £8.45 for a jacket potatoe . And £9.99 for a toasted sandwich!?If you want to go home Hornby Tea room staff ? just shut up shop at 2pm and spare us day trippers the unpleasantness.

I can only echo the experience of others that were dealt the unfortunate reception of the member of staff in the kitchen. We asked if it was still early enough to order lunch and was told: "yes". Then, another member of staff proceeded to take our order at which point we were greeted with a display of gesticulations (arms waving), huffing, expressions of displeasure and inconvenience (head shaking and frowning) at our simple order: a toasted sandwich and jacket potato. The member of staff serving us even interjecting to her "what is the problem"? We then paid (an extortionate price I may add) and sat down. Said member of staff then brings the food out (sandwich burnt), slaps it down in front of me as she says "right, there you go" whilst she then walks off. It was clear however whilst observing that this was not her just having a bad day or her general manner. As the locals came and went from the shop to collect parcels etc, she was a completely different person: smiling, making conversion and displaying nice human emotion. Yet, for some reason from the moment of stepping in, we were treated like dirt. Maybe this was just a local shop for local people...If you know, you know. Do not spend your hard earned money in this place, go into Lancaster instead and be treated like a human being, at a reasonable price. What a disgusting experience.

This is a really fabulous place. The food is excellent with home made soup that is genuinely home made and fresh scones baked every morning. Service is quick and friendly and there is a relaxed feel to the rooms, which together with the care taken over the food is a real winner. Coffee is good too.
