Asked for a fishcake barm with mushy peas. What I got served can only be described as embarrassing. Fish cake looked like it had been bought In the local Iceland and tasted awful. Not what I expected from a so called traditional fish and chip shop. The barm was also just a burger bun which was also of low quality and again not what you expect from a traditional fish and chip shop.

We visit Kays every Friday evening and it's been excellent. Today we went at lunchtime. It was awful! Staff were nowhere near as friendly as the evening staff, they had no salad to go with the scampi(as advertised)which I usually enjoy. The meal looked bland so I asked for mushy peas as there was no salad for which no doubt I was charged. They also had no chicken curry. Bear in mind they had only recently opened for lunch. Very disappointed regular customer. Will not return for some time.

The 'go to' place for my family and me. Whenever they visit always have to call in for takeaway. My daughter suffers withdrawal if she leaves it too long.

We arrived at Kay’s around half 4 on Saturday 27th January 2024We came in with 2 little children and was arranging to fit one hair chair in and the other little one still in the pram a women came over to ask us to move the pram witch we did agree to do so! The man behind the fryer added a comment about the children and was very rude to me and my family! We decided not to eat here and got up to leave two women (who work there) came over and asked was we okay we stated we was leaving and another lady said “bye then” as we was leaving!Very rude and unfriendly people! Would not recommend to anyone in or around the area!Fair to say this place has definitely gone down hill!

Disappointed as went into shop at 6.38pm on Tuesday night to be told " sorry we're shut"Yes the weather was horrible outside, but opening hours state open till 7pm.I'd driven down specially, so wasted my time and fuel.Sorry but not impressed.

We have been going here for over 30 years as it was my Mother’s favourite chippy. The last two times have been very unwelcoming to families. The chap behind the counter is rude and dismissive. He doesn’t have time for any family with young children who may be a little upset. If you don’t want to feel uncomfortable if you have young children who make a noise, I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone!!

Fri 29 Jan 2024 about 5pm. Best chip shop in the UK. We are regular visitors and always eat in. Fish and the chips are always cooked to perfection. Great staff.
