Cycled up the hill early one morning. The restaurant was shut, I just sat on the bench outside and ate a banana while waiting for my heart and lungs to resume normal service. The bench was pretty comfortable and the flower beds next to it were well maintained. Can't fault my experience. 5/5

Delicious meal delivered to our door tonight. Food was fabulous and service was excellent. Thank you for making Mothers Day just a little bit better.

Went here with family for Sunday lunch. There is an old worldly feel but lacks any atmosphere at all. Most people went for the two course option which was very slow to appear. The food in general was standard roast meat, lamb in my case, was very average. I believe I had a sticky toffee pudding for afters which appeared to be off the shelf supermarket "ding" quality and though not bad was not that great either. Drinks were expensive and serving staff were not very attentive taking along time to clear. For me it was not good enough to give a second try . Sorry.

Great Sunday lunch & good value. Beef was great and so was the pie. Daughter loved the chicken nuggets from the kids menu.

I have given feedback twice on the Highmoor's online feedback page following our customary pre Christmas lunch there on Sunday 21 December. I have had no response. Our main courses were disappointing, in particular the turkey which seemed processed and tasteless, accompanied by Brussel sprouts which were small and hard, and one tiny sausage wrapped in bacon. On their website, the Highmoor seem to encourage feedback, so I am surprised that I have not even had an acknowledgement from them.

I have been using the High Moor for the past 26 years and have always had the most wonderful experience. My family and myself visited last Sunday 15th December for our Christmas celebratory Sunday lunch and sadly I have to report back negatively. I am not sure what the issue is back of house but it does need rectifying sooner rather than later. A few of the issues we encountered: - Food having to he sent back as served warm. - Waiting over an hour for main course to be served because of " an issue in the kitchen" - Not sure about portion sizes being served with 2 Brussel Sprouts and 2 carrots on main course platter. All in all not an enjoyable experience and in the spirit of the festive season mistakes are made which are rectifiable. Here's hoping that the voice of reason is being heard and acted upon. I do sincerely wish all staff at the High Moor a truly wonderful Christmas and very happy New Year.

From our arrival to leaving, everything was very good, service was efficient and unobtrusive. The food was ecxellent, good portions sizes and well presented.

The festive lunch was as good as last year except for the Brussels sprouts that were small, dark green bullets.

After a busy day at work on Saturdays in our own coffee shop my husband I frequented High Moor quite often for our evening meal on our way home. Always around 5:30 ish so early doors never very busy. With no previously complaints and always happy with our food, tonight was no different so off we went to the Restaurant. We wish we hadn’t bothered... several reasons: 1. Change in my dietary requirements means choices are limited (Vegan) - from previous visits, I’ve noticed Vegan options on small section of the main menu only tonight ‘Festive Menu’ now in place which is not Vegan Friendly. After some tweaking and debating a starter and main was made available. 2. Walnut bread didn’t seem as fresh as normal, it had been slightly warmed which to us would indicate past it’s best and heating it up was a way of hiding the staleness of the bread. 3. Husband ordered Cumbrian Lamb with Croquets, which he’s had before and loves them, only when dish arrives no croquets in sight. When raised with waitress it appears they’ve sent right lamb with wrong accompaniments and advised will get the kitchen to do the croquets. Waitress also advised that the lamb would be ‘pink’ on arrival and would that be ok. My husband confirmed that’s how he would expect it. When it came is very close to being over and was not PINK. 4. Croquets finally arrived just about time husband was almost done, he started to eat only to find the middle was frozen!! Head waitress was most helpful and give an explanation to what had happened. Doesn’t help us though when our meal was ruined and only compensation was the supplement cost for the lamb to be removed. Overall disappointing visit tonight and sadly one that has put us off returning in the future. Sorry ?

Very tastefully decorated restaurant in beautiful surroundings. Nice atmosphere. Staff friendly and efficient. If you like ultra modern establishments, probably not for you, as Highmoor is a traditional English country restaurant. My starter of pork and black pudding salad was excellent but a bit on the small side for a salad. I opted for steak and ale pie with chips for the main course, which was superb. Reasonable prices and an enjoyable visit. Would not hesitate to recommend.

First visit here for many years. Chose the set lunch which included a glass of wine and coffee. Customer service was excellent. Food delicious and the house wine was of good quality. Will certainly return for dinner and a stopover at a local hotel in order to enjoy the very good reasonably priced wine list. Well worth a visit.

Having booked by phone prior to visiting for an anniversary meal and having left a contact number my party of 4 arrived by taxi on the 1st November to find the place closed for 6 days. On visiting today to discuss the reason I hadn't been informed all I got was a half hearted sorry. No attempt was made to check the booking nor who had taken the booking . If this is the best they can do for customer service they deserve to be named and shamed. They need to take a leaf out of the nearby Bennett's restaurant where customer care is a priority

We were a large group of 24 visiting for an evening meal. The opinions from all the diners without exception was very good. All the dishes were prepared with care and precision, the ingredients good quality, the service friendly and efficient and despite the large numbers, all the courses were delivered in a timely fashion. Highly recommended.
