Never been before. What a joy, best Sunday lunch we've eaten for many many months. Very attentive, helpful and friendly staff, nothing too much trouble. Comfortable seating, and OH what a perfect roast beef and massive delicious Yorkie puds, plus seasonal veg cooked to perfection, too many places grossly undercook veg; not at The New Inn. The roast pork was equably as good. How lovely to have Affogato for dessert! Plus really good selection of well kept cask beer. We all commented to each other how good the whole deal was and exceedingly good value for money. Keep up the good work. Highly recommend you visit.

Went for dinner Friday 12th Jan on recommendation from a friend. Food was superb and service good. For the standard of cooking the prices were excellent and everything was well presented and portions ample. Between the three of us we had a good mixture of dishes from Fish and Chips to roast Partridge and couldn't find a fault. The Scotch Egg starter was, to me, a particular highlight. Crispy crumb lovely pork shel and a beautifully soft Egg. Will definitely go again. The shame was that it wasn't busier as it certainly deserves to be.

Second visit, wasn’t blown away the first time (probably around a year ago, think it had not long reopened?), but having been recently recommended, thought we’d give it another go. Ordered Prawn Bisque and Cauliflower Soup to start. Prawns were severely overcooked and bisque was bland. No gluten free bread provided, as they’d ‘run out’. Cauliflower soup was ‘non-descript’, but edible. We both ordered a Sunday roast, one beef, one pork. No gluten free Yorkshire pudding provided as they’d ‘run out’ (I did ask when ordering but was only informed when being served). Neither meal was great, barely any gravy. Service wasn’t the best: weren’t offered any condiments, no serving spoon provided with cauliflower cheese. And when being informed about the lack of Yorkshire pudding (by the same staff member originally queried), he was apathetic and muttered ‘it’s been a busy day’ as he wandered off. In my opinion, there are plenty of other places nearby with much better food and service.

Been a few times and always found the atmosphere pleasant and friendly. Don't really get stared at by regulars as in most pubs, and didn't feel out of place at all. Those serving behind the bar are always friendly, have a laugh with you and are always in good spirits. The pricing on their drinks is all fair too, and not charging an arm or a leg.The layout of the pub is great too as they have a front to the bar, and then seating and darts at the back with two sides of the bar for service. Highly recommend.

Lunch for 3, August 2 2023 We ate a starter and main each at our first visit here. The surroundings have much of the reassuringly traditional with small, quirky elements of artwork and artefacts to entertain the inquisitive. Anyone interested in history – particularly political history – could spend more than a few hours fuelled by one bookshelf alone. Dec looked after us at a quiet service with just one other family of diners. He is friendly, efficient and able to react intelligently to guest’s needs. The pedigree of lead chefs Slawek and Alex suggests that you will be offered food which is thoughtfully devised and better executed than many country pub restaurants can manage. That promise was fulfilled in most of the dishes we tried. Seasonal ingredients have their flavours and textures brought to the fore. Great ingredient combinations work really well with properly developed sauces where necessary. This made ‘eye-off-the-ball’ inconsistencies all the more noticeable. A terrific lamb sauce was let down by a loin taken too far in the cooking. Two risottos – one rice, and one pearl barley – were both disappointingly bland and under-seasoned. Don’t let that put you off. Average will have to be my current judgement but 'very good' is obviously not far away. We are already booked again. There are more than enough good things on offer at The New Inn for anyone else to reserve their own table.

I heard about this place about a year ago but didn’t get the chance to go until recently. The rooms are beautiful and the food is incredible. I’ve been dreaming about the cauliflower croquette since I had it. Great breakfast, the eggs Benedict is the best I’ve ever had. We’re going back later in September and I can’t wait

Lovely food and great staff, traditional old style pub that we love, service could be a little faster but generally good!!!

Really beautiful venue . Understated luxury. Friendly staff and great food. I’m a vegetarian and the food was excellent. My friends are meaty and they equally enjoyed their meals . Good choice of craft ales and wines

We were on en route and this looked like a good place to stop for lunch. The welcome and friendliness of the welcome was excellent. The "light bite" menu was short, and everything was freshly prepared. This meant that it was not that quick. That said, it was definitely worth the wait. If passing, would we stop again, absolutely.

We needed a place to stay after our home was flooded. Alex and Nathan very kindly took us in and even though they were closed on Xmas day, Alex brought us an excellent dinner. We won't forget how kind everyone was.

Booked as two couples for Sunday lunch, extremely small portions, very undercooked anaemic roast potatoes and veg, chicken was dry and had a peculiar gamey flavour, accompanied by an egg cup sized portion of gravy and £3 if you required more. Seemed like an unsuccessful attempt at posh nosh without the skills, quality or flavours required to pull it off. At just over £160 for 4 people ( this did include wine) feel we should have had a lot better, won’t be returning.
